satellite cable splitters

Thinking of getting the Panasonic 42" Freesat Plasma TV and was wondering since i have twin Sky+ cable running to the TV already, could i use a splitter to connect up the freesat part of the TV, I also have a cable running from the lounge to the bedroom for my magic eye, but would prefer to use my old sky box in there (not on sky multiroom)

OR

Would it be better to buy a multiple connection LNB (the thing on the arm of the satellite dish) and run another wire to the TV's

Would i get any signal loss with the splitter?

I would go the way of the LNB, much more professional. Although I don't know if your freesat will work off the same dish as your sky, worth checking out if you haven't already.

A splitter would cause attenuation but I would not think it would cause enough to degrade the signal.

I'm thinking of getting freesat too so would be interested in finding out how you get on.

Cheers

Steve

i believe it uses the standard dish, i am thinking on the splitter as when i had normal sky (not sky+) i had them come out and change the lnb 7 or 8 times with it going faulty.

I am in warranty at the moment, so don't want to change the lnb just yet, but i too think it will get the better signal

but if the splitter works (for the time been) it could be a solution

Nick - splitter wont work - you need a dedicated feed from a another LNB output

The satellite receiver controls the polarisation of the LNB by sending switching voltages up the cable. Therefore two receivers cannot share a split cable as they both cannot change the polarisation.

There can oten (certainly with a standard Sky+ installation) be spare connections on the LNB pack for other receivers.
