Can you export the contacts from the Nokia PC suite into a neutral format of any kind such as a .pst file or even an excel file?

You may then be able to import this back into Outlook or similar and start the process again.

The question has to be asked......WTF are you using PC suite for backups ???? For synching yes - for backups....absolutely no.

Use Outlook as per normal and run interim backups via XP/Fista or whatever......WRT other content, just copy from the memory card to a "safe" locale on your PC. Easy.

For F Censored s sake stop using PC suite as if its a useful tool, it's the sperm of satan (software speaking). L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

The version that comes with the N96 isn't too bad! I hated the version that came with the N95 8GB, its terrible! Maverick off disco3!

Still no joy I am afraid...and my life is becoming harder and harder without my contacts.

The back up file created by PC suite is in a folder on my PC which is as follows:

C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\Application Data\Nokia\content copier\nokia N95_21-9-2008.nbu

However when I browse for that file using various programs (including Noki which is an application that I found that is supposed to help with this problem) They don't recognise the Application Data folder at all.

What am I doing wrong ? Big Cry RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Smarticus,

when you posted this it reminded me how Censored it is when you lose your contacts as its happened to me before.....it promted me to do a back up as I have just got a new phone. I did a back up using nokia suite and it saved a .nbu file.....it works fine as i copied all from n95 to my new blackberry, then wiped my n95 and it restored them perfectly!

maybe if you send me your .nbu file I might be able to open it?

If the contacts are worth the money, maybe a company that recovers lost data when a computer crashes could help Question

Just had a computer do it to me and they recovered 95% of the information i needed back

Thanks Guys

My trouble is that the backup file is in the Application Data folder and apparently the 'Application Data' folder is hidden by default (which makes it invisible in any file browser). So whilst I know the file is there I cannot "see" it to copy it, open it, shout at it etc. Does anyone know how to "unhide" a hidden folder ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
