Nokia N95 - just lost all my contacts

Hopefully you clever people in RRS land can help me - or at least sympathise with my plight.

I recently backed up by N95 (using Nokia PC Suite) and then uploaded the latest software from Nokia. I now cannot restore my contacts onto the phone. To make things worse - I can't access the back up to even print off my contacts so I can reinput them.

Not having my contacts is causing chaos........

Anyone got any ideas as to a possible solution ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

I feel for you. This happened to me 2 years ago. You dont realise how important a contact list is! I have the phone sync with my outlook automatically via bluetooth whenever im near the laptop. This then means i can resync with any new phone that works with outlook and more importantly puts everything in a backup location (outlook). Never used the backup function of the pc suite so cant help, maybe if you roll back the firmware the backup file will work? Just a thought.

I had exactly the same issue with a Nokia E65 a couple of years ago when I found Nokia PC Suite to do more harm than good. I did manage to reinstall the contacts somehow (can't remember exactly how this far down the line), but from memory I found the location where it had saved my contacts on the PC (had an unusual tag at the end) and then I set the phone up as a totally new phone (ned ID) with a different name and imported the contacts. If my memory serves me right I had to tidy it up a little as the names came out last name first.

This has to be the vaguest post I have ever made, but it may give you hope if nothing else! Rolling Eyes

James Thumbs Up

PS. If anyone has an iPhone and nows as little as me about how to use it then don't try to sync with Microsoft Exchange as I found the same issue to my horror............ all my contacts vanished!

I have a recollection of similar prob but accessed backup file some other way (text editor?) to recover numbers - just cannot be sure it was the N95 though - maybe i am recalling looking at the contact list over BT on the phone? I haven't a backup file around to check though - maybe worth trying though if still unresolved.
