Belt on the TDV6, chain on the TDV8.

Changing the belt on the TDV6 is a right old kerfuffle by all means... Confused

thanks guys - its sort of what i concluded. i believe on the TDV6 it has two belts, one on the front and other on the back?? which the engine has to come out to change Rolling with laughter sounds like a very expensive job Shocked

Hi Roobaby,

The one one the front is the timing belt , changing it is no big deal , you might need a mirror and patience but no worse than lots of other cars.

The one on the back is the diesel pump timing belt (i think....correct me if wrong).

If it breaks the worst that can happen is the car stops and wont restart.
YES it's a pig to change because you must remove the engine from the car or lift the body off the gain access.
Its only a matter of time before somebody finds a way around this but no-one has yet.

I was hoping you could move the engine forward 4-6 inches (props off , mountings off) and have enough access.

Anyone already done it ??
