I heard on the radio today that the price of fuel is being cut by 3 pence per litre at Tesco fuel stations. Hopefully all the other major suppliers will take note and drop their prices too.

It is, compared to what we've had to put up with recently. Still a ripoff of course, but until we all up sticks and move to Dubai it's not going to go back to 1980s prices |

Heard an "expert" in the oil business saying that "of course the price of fuel will remain high as the oil was bought 3 months ago when it was $145 a barrel and it won't come down for at least 3 months..........." to which the interviewer retorted that it didn't take the oil majors 3 months to put the price up after the price went through roof in June/July, the price at the pump went up the same day. To which the interviewee had no reply.

More important.......................... when will derv drop below £1.00 a litre! This might be one time when I leave the car with minimal fuel in the tank when I go back to work rather than leaving it with a full tank! I suppose it's the reverse of hedging................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The 'experts' down under were trumpeting that one of the reasons for high prices was the stregth of the Aussie $ against the US $. (it got to almost parity in July). In the last week or so due to the global turmoil so this has tanked and is down 15%. Do I expect prices to drop, of course not... the justication for higher prices keeps conveniently changing!!! |

Well I put in 26litres at Gaydon on the way north today and it was £1.199 at the Esso station there.............. I would have had enough to have got me to home without filling up but as I was expecting delays and stop start motoring in the north of the UK I thought better safe than sorry. B |
