You need to keep an eye on this link to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Travel advise website then. I see they have updated the Thailand section recently in view of the problems in Bangkok

Thanks Tim, I had a look earlier, also been watching the updates on Tripadvisor via the forums. As you can imagine, there is a lot of chat on there at the moment from people actualy there. Speed Limits! not where I live!

Crikey, we were going to book a VERY expensive holiday this year as a special occasion thing and Phuket was top of the list. Something just put us off,l it didn't feel right and so we ended up going all inclusive to the Caribbean (3rd year in a row, must go somewhere else soon!)

Have you been to Malaysia Steve? There are some very beautiful islands off the east coast in the South China Sea. Lankwi or something - Bobby will know where I mean. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

No I have'nt, a friend of mine did try and get me to go and work there a few years ago. First time for us in that part of the world, really looking forward to it, we stay 4 nights at the Meridien in Bangkok and then we go up to the Chedi in Chang Mai for another 4 nights and then finaly to the JW Marriot in Phukett for 4 nights before heading back to the Meridien in Bangkok for our final night. Speed Limits! not where I live!

Langkawi, I think Tim... that was one of our proposed honeymoon destinations. Looked lovely... it lost out to a trip round Oz with a few days in KL on the way back.

Tim, Langkawi island is at the northern west coast of Peninsula Malaysia and it'll be nearer the Andaman Sea!
But you're right, there are many nice islands and beach resorts on the east coast (South China Sea)!  Malaysia Boleh!
