500 BHP for a RRS Supercharged

Hi All,

It is already some time now that I am working on performance enhancements on Jaguar supercharged engines, and have made there already some significant improvements there. I started this purely as a hobby, as the current options available are just pulley changes to speed up the Eaton faster, however I have never measured any top end gains on my car (XKR). It didn’t take me long to start experimenting with a different type of supercharger, as it became obvious that the Eaton roots type supercharger was already operating at its maximum efficiency. So I started working on a twin-screw conversion, as these type of superchargers are more efficient especially when operated at higher boost pressures, and in the mean time have also partnered up with Bill Macleod (who developed a X-pipe exhaust system for the XKR), and we are now working both together in creating a kit for the 4.0 and 4.2 supercharged engines. Our latest dyno showed 470 rwhp on a 4.0 XKR. Depending on the drive train losses this could be between 550 BHP with 15% drive train loss or even 600 BHP if one would use a 22% drive train loss (which some do in the US for cars with an automatic). But to be honest I only look at the rwhp, and 470 is something you notice compared to the stock 310 rwho Wink

But to cut to the chase (apologiy for the long intro), we believe we can do the same trick with the 4.2 supercharged engines in the Range Rover, and actually have already performed one conversion.

We expect about a 100 bhp increase to be more than feasible which would bring the total to 500 BHP, though that could even be enhanced when used in conjunction with better intake/exhaust and possibly an ECU tune.

Could this be of interested to anyone?

Andre.

Thanks for pointing this out!

Just read the rules, and this might be on the border, as we are just a bunch of enthusiasts, and my post is more to see if people would be interested in a kit like this, I hope that is allowed? Maybe I should have started a poll?

I will check with the admin right what it will cost and if there is true interest here we can seriously consider becoming a sponsor.

Andre.

(Have send mail to Martin regarding sponsorship)

The gearbox wants to shift to 3rd when trying to do a pull in 4th, so it is not possible to get full power curve from low rpm unfortunately on the MB box (This is the same for the ZF box). At 4150 rpm the 4th gear is just selected, so from there it is full power again.

The power delivery is already from very early on in the rpm range, and then it stays almost flat for the full rpm range, which is one of the characteristics of a twin-screw supercharger.
