Foreign Currency

Anyone in the know who could tell me would it be best to buy currency now for future holidays?

I'm going to Spain in November and Thailand for christmas, I dont trust cards abroad so I take quite a bit of cash, would it make sense to buy now or wait til I go or is it impossible to say?

At a guess I would say no - the Euro is strong at the moment but God knows what will happen with Labour in charge! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Would also say take Euros away with you and change them when you get to Thailand, don't buy your Bhats here and then take them with you, you will get a better exchange rate over there. Or if you are worried about taking Euros take Dollars or even pounds but change them when you get there. Don't whatever you do take any 500Euro notes, for some reason nobody wants them overseas, also try not to take "new style" English notes, there is still a suspicion that they aren't the real thing in many moneychangers in the Far East. Most places are still happy to take fistfulls of dollars though, even though they are worthless pieces of coloured paper these days Mr. Green 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Johnny,

FWIW - I spend half my life on aeroplanes and the other half in different countries around the world. While I agree what Tim has said about the U$D, that is my preferred currency when outside Europe. Plus the exchange rate between GBP and U$D is quite favourable at present.

Johnny

I agree with Tumshie.

I also spend much of my time in Asia and when travelling, I always take USD. Its always good currency in Thailand, you can even use it as tender in some places but I am sure you won't be going to any of those!! Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Jay you amaze me - young lad like you who jets off around the world with your bachelor mates, and you haven't savoured the delights of Bangkok, Pattaya Beach or Paptong. You haven't lived yet mate! You would be amazed what a Thai girl can do with with a 10p piece that's rolled across the table top to her.................... she'll do even more for a £2 coin. Your eyes would be popping out of their sockets mate, Amsterdam/Copenhagen have nothing compared to the resorts of Thailand in the way of entertainment for single young guys. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
