I need to replace my rear pads and wondered if its an easy job or not or if it involve bleeding the brakes or any special materials?

I am hoping its as easy as removing the wheels and unclipping the old pads and sliding new ones in.

Anyone know if I am right or not?

Would rathere do it myself than pay someone to spend an hour on it. L319 D4 HSE

Your description is reasonably accurate!

You definitely WONT have to bleed anything if you are just swapping pads.

Should take you longer to jack the car up , make safe and remove the wheel than to change the pads.

I cant remember if your handbrake acts on the back wheels or not....if it does you wil need to release the handbrake or the pads wont shift.

Chock the wheels if you can.

Looks perfect. Dealer parts guy told me the sensor cable is optional. Think I might try and save myself £50 and do it myself.

Dealer told me my pads were at 95% worn, so why bother with a cable sensor that doesn't tell you so??? L319 D4 HSE

I've had dealers tell me the pads were 95 or even 100% worn.....

Whe replaced they are usually 1/3rd worn with plenty of meat left!!!!

One dealer visit prompted tales of 100% worn out , I agreed to the work on the understanding that they kept the parts for me to see how badly worn they were.

Needless to say I didnt pay for the new pads.....but kept them anyway.

I think Brake components are a nice cash cow for the dealers.
If they need replacing then replace them , I will not compromise safety AT ALL but I will not ne fibbed to by the dealers.

Why not take pics of your pad replacement and post it as a sticky on the FFRR forum?

I might buy one next !!

thats a good idea, I dont have any axle stands any more though so not sure if I want to work under the car with just the poxy scissor jack holding it up.

I can buy some 3 tonne stands for £13 but by the time I have done that, I may as well pay a garage to do it?

But £13 for axle stands is an investment , it wont be the only time you use them?

You can then change brakepads for your friends ...

I did my own on the RRS - easy - second jack or axle stand for piece of mind - £220 ish saving from what i recall - well worth it for a lazy hour ....
