Since the smoking ban, it's always been the case that the "workplace" extends into any vehicle you drive whilst executing your duties. Whoever spotted him, not unreasonably assumed that the van was his work vehicle. As ChrisP says, he wants to watch what he says about it only being insured for private use. He might find himself coming unstuck Rolling Eyes

I thought his insurance might pick up on that and he will have more than £30 to pay out. He's a t Censored t for saying that and the guy who gave him the ticket must be a bit of a t Censored t as well after talking to him and finding out it is his own van.

There was a young guy on Pepipoo a few weeks ago,he popped in for a Chinese for his grandma and the owner asked if he would mind dropping off another for a customer which was close, got stopped by the police en-route who saw two keep warms bags and nicked him for driving without business cover even though he said he was doing it for a favour without getting paid. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Yep, the police are pretty hot on that sort of stuff... especially Fri/Sat nights when there tends to be more takeaway deliveries going on. My BIL does pizza deliveries weekend nights to supplement the income from his day job and is always getting pulled over for insurance checks.

Amazing Shocked .I am convinced these people just say these things to get in the news........probably lives on his own in a flat and eats, sleeps and drinks (and probably relieves himself) in a 'not fit for a dog' lounge chair.

He probably is fully insured (unless he's stupid) and played up to the little Hitler who is being paid with our council tax money to fine us.......you just couldn't make it up.......only in Britian. Rolling Eyes L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Shall i pin this one to the 'Why I left the UK' reasons board (If I can find the room)

It's hilarious over here, the Astynomia (Police) cannot multi-task.

One week it's speeding and everyone gets away with everything else.

next week it's bikers without helmets and everyone speeds past the coppers without getting pulled Rolling with laughter Bow down
