Had my 4 corners ALL replaced by Land Rover after some significant moaning. Shocked

The Contis had covered 18k miles, which I deemed to be low, but considering some of the comments here, I did well! Razz

The funny thing is, they have been replaced with Hankook's?! Now don't get me wrong, I am a rubber snob plain and simple.......shockingly though, these handle very well and seem, somehow, more surefooted than the old Conti tyres.

Speaking with the stealer, it seems these are classed as an up and coming brand from Korea, well if this is up and coming, watch out Jerry is all I can say.

Now at 21k and all seems fine. No inside / outside wearingas seen on the Contis after 2k miles!!!!! Big Cry

If these last 18k miles, I will be one happy carrot cruncher -36k miles without having to shell out for rubber can't be bad. Razz L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

my tyres have worn on inside and outside edges after just 8k, the rears are also wearing in a similar fashion.
Gone to the dealers today to check geometry, going to try and get a set of tyres from Land Rover as well..

Dealer advised that there was probably a problem with the geometry setup for tyres to have worn so badly after 8k, but they would need a printout from a specialist to send to Land Rover before new tyres would be supplied.
This was carried out this Wednesday and apparently only slight adjustment was required. Dealer now says that Land Rover will not accept their claim for tyres as the adjustment was so small.
I wish I had got this checked myslef now as I have no proof that only a small adjustment was required.
Car has now been returned with 2 illegal front tyres. Which I have to pay for...
I am very dissapointed with the service from Dealer / Land Rover if they have refused to support this claim.
Shall be writing to both...

All four of mine are wearing badly on the outside 2-3" edges after 11.5K. Had them checked yesterday, still legal with about 4mm.

So will have to wait another couple of months for some new ones. TDV6 - gone

Said it before and I'll say it again... mine went through two sets of replacement tyres in 1 year and 26k miles. No uneven wear from what I remember, but they just wore away like no other car I've owned. Confused

sorry to pick up an old subject.

I am getting told by a dealer that the outside edges are worn after 13k because of low tyre pressure? This sounds like BS to me. Is this likely?

I guess just show them the technical service bulletin?

Yes, BS and TBH the usual trick they play on the tyre front. Running the tyres with low pressures would replicate similar wear patterns, but with the number of cars and owners experiencing the same issues and with the unlikelyhood of us ALL running low tyres = easy get out clause.

I would say so, mine have just had to be realigned within 2 months of the last service and check up.. after the alignment last week the steering feels like crap and i seem to have to keep correcting it, so back in next week Evil or Very Mad and keeping a very close eye on the tyre wear..jeez you would think they would make it a bit more robust, it is a 4x4 after all Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

As you know my tyres were starting to wear badly within 5K. So I had all the bushes replaced and lower ball joint fixed in one day. Next day I had new set of tyres fitted and then taken straight for full four wheel alignment.

Since then the tyre wear issue on the outside edges seems to have been resolved. Bow down Bow down Bow down

A word of advice. I was told there is no point getting four wheel alignment done on badly worn tyres.

In actual fact given my experiences I think if I was buying a new one I'd be taking it straight away to have the alignment checked. TDV6 - gone

Our front Contis lasted about 23k and when replaced were also unevenly worn (Inside edges I think it was).

Rears are probably close to replacement but have worn well and evenly.

Now have Michelin Diamaras on the front and they seem like a good tyre. Currently done about 1,500 - 2k miles on them and still look like new Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
