big old company - classic silo approach to business means all control is lost - just part of the cycle and all organisations go through it imho |

There's a lot wrong with ALL large companies (you should try working where I do!) but BT do come in for a regular beating.... never mind Boolia, only two weeks to go! |

completing an install yesterday - BT Openreach engineer turned up alone, installed an overhead cable connection to the new build - completed the whole fit in under 2 hours - left with the line working and even went and checked the connections in the house - 2 hours later the BB went live

Not sure about your specific area of expertise but Australia is still booming at the moment, and has its lowest unemployment figures for a long time. Most industries just can't get enough qualified/experienced staff - IT particularlt which is where i work. Telstra are also spending big time so I'm sure they must be hiring?!?!! I emigrated in 2002 - well it was a secondment that never ended - and although very patriotic am very happy that i made the choice to stay. My sister is now looking to follow, and if you search the web there are expos run in the UK where the local Aussie State governements and employers attend to try and attract good people over! I'll see if I can find a link I was sent later.. |

as 2nd rower states depending on your skills and age you should get in no problem. Brother in law is just emigrating to North queensland, he is a builder and expecting a boom time. In addition to Telstra, there is of course Optus, a raft of mobile players etc. Your old boss from wholesale, Reynolds is with Telecom New Zealand.. I moved down here with BT when they took over my previous company which was owned by Reuters, the only good thing i got out of them was my Oz residency ![]() Cheers Another Pommie Bar Steward down under MY20 Defender 110 SE P400 Eiger/Ebony MY10 3.0 RRS TDv6 Fuji/Ebony/Anigre |
