Squealing brakes!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to pop a question out there before I go to the dealers..

I've now done about 8000kms (5000 miles) and have recently noticed that on slow speed braking (ie. stop start traffic), my brakes begin to squeal (quite loudly at times Embarassed ).. Have the pads had it already??

Anyone else with similar issues?

Thanks!

ps. It's getting so bad I might need to start telling people I've got carbon ceramic brakes on!

My car had this exact issue from about 8k miles and TBH I put up with it until very recently, having now covered 22k miles. It took a few attempts mind:

1. They changed the brake shoes for the handbrake (I assume its shoes?) which did not work.

2. Then they adjusted the shoes as they were suspected to be dragging, this also did not work.

3. They have now replaced the rear disc pads and it seems to have cured the issue. The SB issued regarding this states that screeding the pads should remove the squeak, but my stealer deemed that pointless and replaced under warranty. All, so far, is quiet!! the D3 site has a section devoted to the Brakes in particular the Park Brake issues which can cause problems. My brakes have started to squeal again after the EPB was fixed late 2007. With all the other faults its all becoming quite depressing Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Had mine in and they said they fixed it but after getting it back it still has the same problem Exclamation Exclamation
As its got to go back for yet a further radio to be fitted and also for them to have a 3rd look at the alloys (which are scratching too easily) I am going to ask them to have a further look.

I kind of think they dont know what they are doing but are very plesant about it Exclamation Exclamation "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

Just a quick update on the brakes issue: (apologies for the slightly long rant)

Got the car back a couple of days ago (they had it for 4 days), and all they did was the first service and apparently a recall done on the tyres (?) There was a flat spot, so they replaced all the tyres Smile never heard of that, but didnt complain!

Most importantly though, they didnt touch the brakes because there was some misunderstanding that I didnt agree to pay for it (I told them it was supposed to be under warranty, as I've only done 8000 kms). So they called the After Sales Manager (who happened to be British) and I explained everything to him, he finally agreed to have it done FOC Thumbs Up They are basically going to polish all 4 discs and this should cure the problem.

His explanation is that LR is aware of the squealing brakes, and is currently working with Brembo to find a solution. He also mentioned that this might reoccur in the near future (ie. after a few thousand more kms) Sad

Oh well, back to the dealers next week..
