Whats the best ECU remap out there?

Hello all,
I am about to have my 2.7 remapped, can anyone advise on the best one out there. A firm local to me Turbopacs offers +70 BHP, all of the other providers seem to be about 30-45 BHP. I have driven my mates with this conversion and it goes well.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

Are their horses big ones or little ones???

There is a trade off between power output and reliability in any case.

Personally I go with JE, first on my D2 (125k miles with their Stage 2 tune, 192k miles in total when I sold it), then our RRS and now on our D3. Cheers

Simon

There is a big difference in some of the methods of measuring this gained bhp.

Dynos for testing out there are plenty and so is the range of figures they give depending on user/calibration/make or dyno etc etc.

In all honsety if they are offering 70bhp gain i would question the reliability of the figures or the reliability of your car if it did gain this amount.

If its the same TURBO-PACS ive herd of in the past they used to be a Superchip dealer.

You have to ask yourself why they used to be a superchip and no longer are

"Response Chips" is not as well known as some others and 70bhp seems a bit on the high side and is either over exagerated or will blow the arse out of your engine in no time

My V6 is going in on wednesday to somebody over in blackpool who has come very highly reccomended having re-mapped my brothers P38 and done a lot of work on his sierra cosworth (450bhp Shocked )

how much have they quoted you and did they quote any mpg improvement claims

There is a lot of people out there claiming allsorts and the only thing you can really do is see what other people reccomend as i will reccomend this dealer after wednesday if i am happy with everything and hopefully i will be

I will keep you posted Thumbs Up

My mate who had his Sport TDV6 remapped by Turbopacs reckoned they offered 3 options, £200, £500 and their own remap for £1000. He opted for the last option. As I say I have driven his Sport and it goes well ( I previously had a RR Vogue SE 3.6V8 which was awesome, his sport wasn't quite as quick but was comparable with this £1000 remap.
Are there any performance figures out there to compare before and after remaps, not just BHP/Torque increses, 0-60s, 30-70s etc?
Just want to get as much info as poss before parting with my hard earned!

Yes the very same guys

My brother has been going to stuart over there for a while and really sings his praises as he has done just about everything he can to his sierra sapphire cosworth over the past two years and has even took the car to shows to display on the motorsport developments stand as testiment to them.

I have not heard a bad word said about them and they did me a good deal on the price

I am going to have a word with stuart when i go on wednesday and i will let you guys know what deal he can do

I think you will have no problems at http://www.motorsport-developments.co.uk/

They make all there tuning file in-house and do a good job.

There are very few tuning companys in the uk that actualy make there own products,
most of them just buy in what they need from abroad from people who can barley speek english let alone understand your needs from a english car

To be honest guys i never tried Torq Tune as i had heard so many good things about motorsport developments

Had mine done today and the difference is amazing Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Dropped it off at 9.30 they asked loads of questions about the car and what i wanted from the re-map then they rang us a taxi and off we went to freeport shopping village so i could keep the wife happy for a few hours

On the way the taxi driver told us he picks people up from there all the time and they come from all over the country to have work done there

They rang me about 12.30 to say they had just finished a test drive and everything was fine so we headed back to pick it up

The car is ten times better its faster more responsive and generally nicer to drive all round Very Happy Very Happy

Well pleased with the results and the service from the guys at motorsport developments

Stuart at motorsport developments has told me that anyone wanting the re-map doing can have it done for £425 all in and cosidering they make all there own tuning files in-house you are going to leave them a happy man with a smile on your face
