I have 19" Scorpions on my motor Josh. 23K miles and still 4 - 5mm of tread. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I had Scorpions on mine from the factory too... they lasted me about 15k before needing replacement, but that was me driving somewhat enthusiastically. But as with TB's, mine were on 19s so not sure if the 20" variant is any better/worse. |

There was never a single supplier anyway... back when I still had mine, RRSs were leaving the factory in both Pirellis and Contis. Luck of the draw as to what you got, I think. TB might have a specific answer... |

I've just got new the 20" scorpion tyres on my TDV8 (3 weeks old). You are correct they have changed. I had a TDV8 earlier this year on the Continental tyre. I can't tell any difference in the ride, but I do believe is quieter on the Motorway - people say they can hear me know on the phone on the Motorway.

It really depends how vain you are exalld. There wont be any problems using both Scorpions and Conti's at the same time, apart from the looks.

I faced this scenario once and the local tyre emporium suggested that it would be acceptable to mix mfrs as long as you kept each axle the same... i.e. Pirellis front, Contis back etc..

Oh well who ever gets my now departed TDv6 will find that it has a Pirelli as the spare and 4 Conti's to run on as I had to replace one tyre and the tyre fitters DIDN'T tell me about mixing them - I just asked them to fit the spare onto the wheel that had the damaged tyre on it and put the new one under the back as the spare. The guys at in London who took the car reckoned that they would probably be fitting a set of 19" wheels/tyres to it anyway so I suppose it won't be a problem in that case!

Some of us will have to make a decision on tyres this year as the Conti sport contact is being phased out and being replaced with Conti cross contact UHP tyres for 100% on road use. Info taken from Contis web site |

My FFRR and the Freelander that I had before it both ran on Goodyears Wrangler HP M&S tyres - they gave great grip in all conditions including offroad and they wore well as well - both cars were sold with about 30k miles on them and the original OEM tyres still had plenty of tread left. The V6 went into Charles Hursts with about 6mm of tread left all round and had done 21000 miles on the original tyres, I don't know if they changed them for new ones but there was still loads of miles left in those tyres!

In my Scoob owning days, the WRX and STI's had P Zero's as standard footwear as part of the UK delivery, and to be honest they never provided the confidence to push the car to what it could do, far to hard a compound to give the type of traction most scoob owners would like. Many owners moved over to Yokohama at their own expense when purchasing the car, which had a far softer compound, ok faster wear, but road holding and traction far superior to the Pirelli's.
