Am I turning into a Victor Meldrew?

Yes I've just had 2 spotty yoofs at the door begging and dressed up in ..... Jeans and Teeshirts! The door bell battery is flat but that didn't stop them hammering on the door! The prunes just stood there so I asked what they wanted and their reply was "So you don't do Halloween then?" If I were 45 years younger I might "do" halloween but at 50 it doesn't feature too highly in my diary. In my youth,just a few years ago, when we went out at Halloween we had learned songs and poetry, but it would appear that 21st century kids expect you just to fill a carrier bag up with goodies for no effort - not even the dreaded US style trick or treat, only blatent begging, and there are no kids in this area that need to go out begging.

Pah Humbug, I'll probably go out in the morning and find that the car has been keyed and has 4 flat tyres! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Endjin I live out in a tiny village too, but just coming round knocking on doors without any fancy dress or prepared to do something in exchange doesn't count with me! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

We don't tend to get anyone come here because we live on an unlit country lane, so if you try and walk down it at night, you'll probably get mown down.

there are a few young children in the village and we half expected to see them last night - they would have done well as Clare bought a few packs of sweets just in case - we got stuck into them in earnest ourselves instead
