Driven: FFRR TD6 with PSi box upgrade

Ok, so in less than one week mine is going into JE Engineering to have the Stage One tune done on it, upping the BHP by 40 (an increase of a whopping 23% overall) and many more NM's of Torque (About 94 I think)

My friend at work who also has a green FFRR TD6 Vogue had a PSi box put in it and I took it for a spin last week. I have to say that unless the newer version (mine) is slightly faster than the original diesel engines back on 2002, it did not seem any quicker and certainly not any smoother to drive. The delivery of the power had changed slightly but as the bloke who fitted his box would not commit to how much power increase he may find from the fitting of it, I am suspicious these boxes do any good at all.

The one upshot of this is he has found that his economy has increased from about 24mpg to 29mpg on a run, and he calculated that the old fashioned way and not using his on board computer.

My advice if you're thinking of getting a PSi box on the cheap...save your money and don't bother. Thumbs Up L319 D4 HSE

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Just checked my old FFRR Fuel spreadsheet RRUK, and driving at a steady 75 from Scotland to Southampton I managed a best of 34mpg but seem to have averaged it at 32 for most trips. Day to day driving I used to get between 24 and 27mpg. That was on a 2003 TD6 SE without any engine mods 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

For main engine fuel we only work it to the nearest tonne on the ship but I'm sure that the bean counters in the bunker department will be asking for it to the nearest litre soon....................... when you are buying in 10,000 tonnes at each top up what is the odd litre here and there! And it's no good pinching any for the car because what we burn is only one stage up from crude oil, it's still $350 a tonne though. As of Aug 11 though we will have to start burning Low Sulpher Gas Oil which is about $1200 a tonne so expect the prices of goods in the shops to rise again once the fuel surcharges are applied - that is a significant on cost when you are burning 250 tonnes of the stuff a day! The company fuel bill last year was something in the region of $52billion.................... lots a lot of oil going up in smoke.

Why not tell GP they could focus their attention on shipping rather than 4x4's! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
