RRS's in the Gumball Rally

Spent today covering the Gumball Rally thanks to a tenuous GPS connection (the rally is sponsored by CoPilot GPS who supply handheld nav systems to all the entrants!)

There were FF RRS's and RRS's entered as well as a Bugatti Veyron, three McLaren SLR's, two of the new Rolls Royce's a Zonda, some Aston's and more Ferraris' than I cared to count!

I'll edit the post and add a selection over the morning. Some very nice motors, all sponsorship is tightly controlled hence the logos and wraps etc. Darren Griffin

I remember that Phantom from last year that ended up wrapped up in a ditch.... to a lot of these people, that sort of thing is just small change anyway. It's only another 200k for another one after all... Shocked

Very sad to hear but not at all surprising given the antics of some of the drivers. It was only a matter of time before someone was seriously injured. With major sponsors getting cold feet it'll put future runs in question now assuming they can get any countries to allow them through. Darren Griffin

Heard this too - very sad. I'm all for haring around in exotics and would love to do the Gumball myself if I was minted enough, but it's got to be tempered with sensibility.... Confused

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

I'm afraid accidents do happen, whether it is on a rally or in every day driving. Unfortunately Joe public will automatically assume that it must have been the fault of the Porsche driver - which may not be the case.

As an ex 911 owner, I know that Porsche's are automatically labelled as the cause of any accident they are involved with - just the same as 4x4's are targeted for causing the worlds CO2 problems.

The power of the media I'm afraid. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.
