power loss TDV6

A problem has developed with my RRS. From take off (stand still) the car is exceptionally sluggish (barely reacts to throttle input) but after 2 to 3 seconds will respond to throttle input. Seems to happen at other speeds too, its as if the turbo is taking 2 to 3 seconds to spool up and then reacts to throttle imput. This developed when returned from the dealer.

Its as if the car has 2 turbos and the smaller one has packed in.

Any ideas, has anyone else had a similar experience.

Thanks

I would say it's a turbo problem.

This used to be common but was generally fixed by the VEP in 2006...

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

In 2006 there was a concern of an intermittent but sudden reduction in engine power with tdv6 engines with an engine warning message displayed.
This was attributed to a turbocharger assembly internal mechanical control function problem.

A trip to the dealer is recommended.

I think its the EGR as there seems to be similar to issues on the Disco website.

No warning lights though.

Thanks

I have been told the same thing. Mine does this intermittently. Sometimes it goes like the clappers and sometimes it feels like it's clapped out..

Going to get my EGR valve checked as apparently they can stick

I've had this problem too. Sorry if I'm being thick - What is the EGR Valve? Neutral
My car is going in for service next week, so it would be useful if I could tell them
to look at this problem at the same time.

Did you manage to get that issue solved, lads? I had my car in for the 20'000 miles service a week ago and since yesterday I am expreiencing exactly the same problem as Madg was describing. Big Cry Big Cry

As usual garage has no idea since there's no service bulletin describing that problem, they think it must be the turbo charger...

update: garage did a second check with their diagnostic software and now the programme managed to find a faulty EGR valve !! Seems to be a common enough issue with the TDV6. I am glad and relieved that problem could be found.

Reading that reminds me of the problems some FL2 people were having with clogged particulate filters... now I can see why, thanks S Thumbs Up

Roland sorry for the delay in reponse but I've been travelling.

My car is currently at the dealers awaiting parts (EGR Valve), no update yet when parts are likely to be received but from the Disco site could potentially be another 4 to 6 weeks.

There are apparently 2 EGR's on the TDV6, and the one I need is the one on backorder.

I do have a loan Disco though, which I quite like, in fact I would probably get one but having 2 cars with the same potential problems it doesn't make sense.

Madg, I was promised they will get the parts in a week or so, straight from Solihull. Hope that's true, fingers crossed.

As you say there are two EGR sysetms, on the near- and one on the off-side. The one I need is on the left-hand-side.

Hi guys. Just wondered how you were both getting on with having your EGR valves replaced.

My TDV6 RRS has been suffering badly with this problem since mid January, and I'm STILL waiting for the parts to be made available from Landrover. The car became so difficult (and dangerous) to drive that its been sitting in the dealers for the last two weeks and I've had a loan car.
