warning if driving in Spain

if you go down to Spain and in Valencia direction take great care if you stop at a motorway service

station. \\\\\\\\\\\\I parked my ffrr , had lunch ,came out and drove away, within 10 mins two guys in a merc
tried to flag me down and force me of the road, Well I was bigger than them, so gave them a run for their money, they dissapeared so I stopped and found my rear drivers side tyre had been knifed. IOn removing the spare the police arrived and in formed me that I was number 11 that day . The +++++++ get you to stop, then phone there mates who offer to help, then take whatever they can from you, passport ,pc etc.Lucky for me the police arrived before the XXXX The police are keeping all this a very low profile so as not to upset the tourist business. One hour before me, a couple had there tyre shot at , to make them stop.
Cost me 278 euros for a new tyre, I did not feel the damage ftom the knifed tyre at all when driving, must be the air suspension. So if in Spain take care/.

Sorry to say this has been going on for sometime Crying or Very sad in Valencia. You also should be careful in the city because there have been cases of this sort of robbery on foriegners. Come to visit Valencia it's a fantastic modern city but exercise caution as you would in other foriegn cities. RRS TDV6 HSE BUCKINGHAM BLUE BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR RHODIUM TASMOD SILLS PARROT 3000 EVOLUTION WHITE SIDE REPEATERS RRPORT.CO.UK BROLLY & STICKER

http://www.iht.com/articles/1991/07/27/gang.php?page=1

very old article, but explains the problem well. the shocking thing is, that since 1991, the problem has not been solved, but getting worse.

from a different website:
"Good Samaritan" scams are unfortunately common, where a passing car or helpful stranger will attempt to divert the driver's attention by indicating there is a flat tire or mechanical problem. When the driver stops to check the vehicle, the "Good Samaritan" will appear to help the driver and passengers while the accomplice steals from the unlocked car. Drivers should be cautious about accepting help from anyone other than a uniformed Spanish police officer or Civil Guard.

i wonder what's the best response is when someone next to yo is indicating you have a flat tire. you can't stop, otherwise they'll rob you. you can't just keep going, otherwise they'll shoot your tires or force you off the road :S heavily influenced by movies Razz i guess one thing is to unleash the supercharged and head for the horizon *pictures leaning out the sunroof aiming my rifle at the following cars* Confused sounds rather 'woha', but thinking of the people who had their tires shot to make them stop... or stop, wait till they get out of their car and drive away offroad would be the obvious solution i guess, this being a RRS. RRS SC Bonatti Grey

But how fare can you go off road with a flat tyre? I guess you kiss your alloy good bye in that case! But it is better than losing all of your items! Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

chances are that you dont have a flat tire in the first place - just check every time you left the car unattended. and if they shoot your tires, well that's a bit more serious. either you shoot back, or...guess going offroad is still the best way out, even on a flat tire. RRS SC Bonatti Grey

driving in Spain

Seems the obvious thing to do now, is not to go to Spain,I was on my way to view a villa, but now, no way would my wife or me even think about buying there. If more people did this, and the spanish noticed a drop in there income from tourists, they would sort the problem out over night.
