Richard Burns RIP

Andrew has mentioned this very talented young Scottish rally driver over in the George Best thread.

For those that don't know who Richard Burns was, he was a rally driver who died this weekend aged 34 after a long fight against a brain tumour and will be sorely missed in UK motorsport circles - he was one amazingly talented driver and the British Champion 2 years ago.

TDv8 HSE - Stornoway Grey with ebony and straight grain walnut wood-a-like interior with towpack, Tasmods. The best car I have ever owned
Now departed - Giverny Green TDv6SE with Aspen and Parchment interior - nearly the best car I have ever owned
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

That was news to me, that is sad, I knew of his talent, despite not following WRC.

Really? I don't follow rallying that religiously but didn't even know he was ill. I remember a very old Top Gear doing a piece on him when he must have been in his teens, throwing an old Beetle around in a field owned by his Dad. He was on his way into the rally circuit at that point I think. What a shame... isn't it odd that well-known deaths always seem to happen in clumps, normally threes.

He collasped at the wheel during a high speed stage and his navigator managed to gain control of the car but if I remember correctly had to to crash it to stop, It was at a medical after that incident that Burns was found to have the tumour.
