Emergency access when the key fob/ battery goes flat

Ever wondered what the little lock symbol on your passenger side door handle trim is for?

Next time you are round that side of the car bend down and look under the handle and you will see a keyhole on the base of the fixed plastic trim. Inserting the ignition key will unlock this cover exposing an emegency lock for overriding the cenral locking system. It will set off the alarm if you open the door but at least you will be able to get in and disable that and start the engine using the key, the key fob battery will recharge as you drive along.

The instructor at LRE Dunkeld showed me this yesterday.................. and we had a lot of problems getting the cover back on, so if you are going to experiment with yours be very careful when replacing the lock cover as it is easily damaged and is quite fiddly to replace 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for that wonderful nugget of information. I was similarly wondering why that lock symbol was there. Now I know. Thanks! Wink
