Tdv6 cold start

Hello
Just joined the forum and seen plenty of information and helpšŸ‘šŸ» Iā€™ve had a cold start issue below 0 degrees two winters now Iā€™ve replace the sensor which most people say warm with heat or hot water which worked ! Iā€™ve noticed over time when removing engine cover the sound proofing falling off so taken off completely this seemed to have made cold starts harder, I have used roc wall insulation aluminium foil and adhesive foil heat pads wrapped the sensor and secured tidy and next morning the temp -3 after 4 or 5 pre heats started first time hope this could help! This on tdv6 2.7!

Cheers any photos. My foam also was coming off the engine cover, so it was removed completely but have not replaced it. I havenā€™t had any issues starting though. Iā€™ve been out this morning to take the dogs out at -4. -9 at 5.30am though. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I would be more inclined to check your glow/heater plugs are all working, can't think it should take 4-5 pre heat cycles to start.

Cheers

yeap glow plug issue if it won't start below 0 C

Glowplugs usually snap and can cost Ā£700 to drill out, so this is a cheaper work around.
with a resistor and push button

Alternatively fit a remote FBH start to preheat the coolant. Around Ā£100

Evening
Weā€™ll since Iā€™ve insulated the sensor cold starts been fine no more extra pre heat , interesting that the issue as stopped I can photo if interested but quite simple as long as you keep material away from belts etc! But good heat tape and couple of cables ties done šŸ‘šŸ» just normal pre heat this morning below freezing!

Yes starting fine now cheers it was a pain before but a simple fix I should have done last year !! -4 degrees this morning. Some of the colder countries do recommend a couple or so pre heats if unusually cold just to help. Wish Iā€™d taken and done a photos .
