Apple Car Play - Must be coming soon...

Went to see mine get built at the factory yesterday and some of the paperwork I was given had the VIN number on so popped it onto topix to check everything was correct.

Noticed this so checked it the VIN on the MY18 I handed back and it wasn't listed there so guessing it's due very soon. Based on this looks like it might be a hardware based upgrade rather than software as I had seen mentioned before.

There were plenty of good rumours this would be a software update on 2018MY. Time will tell! But I’d bet £10 it will be a software update for you. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Had the same comment on my Vista Order sheet in December for build date early Feb 18. Guess it hasn't made its way onto the cars yet...M

I dont think JLR will give us anything for free and other manufacturers charge £250-600 for car play so I expect JLR will as well! It will most certainly be just a firmware related update required but will be decoded by the stealers IMHO.

Looks like you were right again! Apple car play now (or very soon) available. Upgrade option for existing owners too by the looks of it.

Waze is supported now on iOS 12, interface needs a bit of work but worth living with for waze maps / routing algorithm!

Seams to imply that it’s free OTA? Mine is in at the moment so might ask the question and see what the response is!

Might be worth repurposing an old Android phone on one of the USBs simply for Waze !!

Apparently they're much better to use on Android Auto than they are on Apple Car Play !

I use an old iPhone 7 on USB with a pre paid SIM as a Waze Navigator and a mobile speed camera warning device as well as a radio using radio apps and Tune In Radio. I tend to like international stations. I have deleted everything else possible from the phone. Works a treat. I have never even tried to use the RR sat nav and local radio is Censored
