If you have a low excess on your insurance policy and protected NCB would it not be worth pushing through an insurance claim?

Cheers

I had the chap from Auto Dents in Leicester come out to see the car yesterday
He told me how it might be fixed and then set about having a go, unfortunately it would appear that my dent is in an area where the double skin prevents getting a probe to the underside of the dent to tap it out, otherwise it could have been repaired.

Would it not be possible ( cheaper ) to access from underneath bonnett even though it is double skinned but to go through the double skin with this "probe" to get to the dent to push it out. Then a repair to the inner skin which is underside of the bonnett and not seen? Just a thought Confused

MDP,

He tried that, he had to drill a small hole in the double skin underneath the dent for his probe, it would seem there is ANOTHER skin inbetween that and the dent that prevented access, so can no can do.

Trust me, I WANTED the cheaper option!

My insurance excess is £350 so there's little point claiming. L319 D4 HSE

What about some awsome suction device? I've seen them get dents out this way , just depends on dent , location, size, etc ?

I'd want to keep trying every option before I went to the lengths of filling & total respray etc.
I feel for you RRUK but surely there is someone out there who can sort it?

Perhaps try some other "Dentmaster" type people for a second opinion?

Don't give up.

Gazzer,

Very pleased, please look up my full thread on that in the modifications section for more details.

I don't think it can ever be pulled or tapped out, the bonnet has a triple skin at the front, if you open the bonnet you'll see the double skin clearly visible, under that is another skin, and under that is the top face of the bonnet...making it very unaccessible to 'fixers'... Just did a search for Chipsaway as I am also going to need their services.

Found this thread, must be a Leicestershire thing as my wife works in Rearsby (must be very close to RRUK) and has come home today with a deliberate scratch right across the top of the bumper on my 3 week old D3 Twisted Evil Crying or Very sad

Hopefully won't be too painfull, just worried that the jealous a######e will do it again and maybe in an even worse place.

Oh dear Cliff.............. I used Chipsaway on a dent that a friend put in the tailgate of mine. The local guy did an excellent job - he had to use filler and the paint match is superb. I'll post a link to the thread that I put up about it when I find it!

OK Cliff here is the result of the search on Chipsaway, there are before and after pics of "my" repair there

Thanks Tim, did read your thread, finish looked good.
Mine is on the plastic bumper, I think our local guy will be pretty good as he did some work for a friend of mine who had quite a few dings and scratches on his 6 month old boy racer Clio sport.

As I say just very worried it will happen again maybe even worse!

Cliff not all the chipsaway guys can do all the repairs, some cannot do alloys but I would imagine that down there your local guy will be able to have a go at
repairing seat fabrics bumpers and alloys as well as the body bits. I found the local guy through www.yell.co.uk and he was most surprised as I called him on the day he started the business and was even more surprised that he was on Yell! You can also get the local guys details by emailing Chipsaway through their website 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers guys

Will try and take before and after photos.

I know the local guy is happy with plastic and silver as the Clio was silver and had 2 scuffs on the bumper.
