Vibration At Speed

I'm getting a very subtle vibration down the motorway which is very recognisable at about 90mph (yes i know it's above the speed limit blah de blah de blah Very Happy )

It's not a constant vibration more 'rotational' as in 'on off on off on off', it's enough to make the headrests visibly vibrate in the back of the car Shocked

Has anyone else experienced this?, or is it something else i should put up & shut up? Laughing Laughing Laughing Owner of MY13 RRS Red Edition, Santorini Black, Ebony with Lunar, Privacy Glass & Exterior Design Pack

Try balancing the wheels first and see how that goes, but check you haven't picked up and weights made of mud first or atleast road grim

Vibration

Hello, I have a similar problem with my 2012 rrs.
Wheels balanced ? Haven't checked this out yet but nothing should have changed.
Should I go to the dealer with this issues?
Cheers

We had this with a freelander once. Not that it is necessary the issue you have though

Do you want to know what the solution was...a complete set of tyres, fully balanced and then again a 4 wheel alignment.

4 wheel alignment was pointless without the new tyres as the damage was done, again the new tyres were properly balanced.

run your hand along the surface an see if they are rough in reverse, this may indicate something Mike

I bought my RRS last week & found the same whilst driving home up the Motorways. A vibration coming through
the steering column when driving over 60mph. I went to the local garage yesterday & they balanced my front wheels. So far so good..Worth a shot Thumbs Up

I have the same issue and have new Overfinch alloys and tyres

All 4 have been re-balanced and 4 wheel alignment

Mine happens at about 65-70 and then goes then comes back when braking through the same speed

Now getting it booked into an independant to see if these are suspension issues? “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”

Sometimes these vibrations that are road speed rather than engine speed can be driveshaft related.

Obviously get the wheel balanced etc firstt but then check the centre propshaft joint and then the other driveshaft.

When I had a similar problem, it turned out to be the rear differential which was replaced by LR.

Further update,
Car was in at Pentland landrover today,
They have supposedly repaired the vibration issues with the car.
some issue with the rear breaks? and they balanced the rear wheels after a few attempts, they informed me. they had to burst the bead on the rim, where they removed approx. 1 ltr of water.
now i am being charged for the cost of balancing of the rear tyres.
I picked this car up from a landrover specialist. the specialist had purchased the car from Duckworths landrover. the car was pre registered and had delivery miles only.
Pentland are suggesting the tyre has been changed at some point. i dispute this as we have had the car from new,
has anyone every come across this before i have had many new cars and this is a first for me.
I assume landrover should be able to trace the tyres back to a batch number to prove that the tyre has never been changed out.
I just feel its a little bit of a story.
Incidentally the vibration on the car was that bad that we could not drive above 60 mph. and a heat should had vibrated loose and was hanging down.
the dealer said he has witnessed these heat shields coming loose on discovery models.
i fear this is my dreaded problems started with my range rover sport.
will keep you posted.
Kind regards

VIBRATION AT HIGH SPEED

RRS 2013 BLACK EDITION. Had the car from new, after a few months started to get vibration in the car. Head rests visually vibrating ect at about 88 - 90 mph. Eventually found we could not balance one of the rear tires. Found about 1 pint of water in the Tyre. This happened yet again some months later. The car is now 2.5 years old and the same problem is back again. It has been suggested that the water is a build up of condensation. A possible solution is to re inflate with nitrogen and re balance after removing the water. This is my next course of action. The car is still under warranty. Reported this problem on a couple of occasions to RR dealer. They say no one has ever reported this problem before. It must have happened when I put air in the Tyre. incidentally I have never put air in this cars tires, the pressures have always remaineded okay.

Thanks DrRob

Is this a problem with Pirellis Tyre or a problem with RR? Do you know a link where I can get further information?

Mine was in 2 weeks ago, water in the tyres, took then 2 days to find the fault, they told me Pirelli have now a special sealing paste to stop this happening, took me two hours to remove the black gunk for my rims, they didn't charge me, but said it isn't covered under warranty. But as a jesturevof goodwill they will do it this time. These are the original tyres P Zero MY 13 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition
