Hi all,

I have a new MY16 AutoBio which has Auto High Beam Assist as standard, together with Auto Lights. The auto lights turn on and off perfectly, but the auto high beam assist does not function. The manual states that this feature can be turned on and off in the "Driving Features" menu, together with a choice of "Drive on the Left" or "Drive on the Right". These items are all missing from the menu so I seem to have no way of activating AHBA!!

Secondly, the stalks on the steering column for the headlights and wipers are not illuminated at night, unlike the steering wheel controls, so any changes and selections must, at night, be done from memory. Is this correct? Are yours illuminated (lit from within)?

I have the ability on the menu to turn on and off the HBA and also choose which side of the road I am driving on;

Stalk controls are not illuminated at night though.

I can forget about the illuminated stalks then....probably would be a distraction at night anyway!

However, the menu items are definitely missing so I'm off to my dealer!

Some items in the dash menu seem to get disabled if you have the engine running and only get re-enabled if you have the engine off but power to everything else, what would be position 2 in a keyed ignition. eg if I have the engine running I cannot check tyre pressures, turn the engine off but with power to everything else then I can access the TPMS! I don't have the AHBA on this car, I did on my last Evoque and found that sometimes using the manual dip via the column stalk would override the auto dipping for ages. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I took the car to the dealer this morning and we all agree that the car should have AHBA. However, they confirm that the menu items are indeed missing! The AHBA is on the build sheet, but not configured on the car!

Dealer taking the car in for a couple of days at my convenience to reconfigure software in conjunction with factory so all should then be fine.

Car otherwise perfect and the dealer could not have been more friendly or helpful. Well done Caffyns of Lewes, Sussex.

Hi Folks,

I may not be alone on this!

My dealer this morning received a bulletin from the factory that this is a known problem.

It only affects MY16 RRS and FFRR with TFT instrument panel and WITHOUT "Lane Departure Warning" and "Traffic Sign Recognition" fitted.

Currently under analysis, and a Technical Service Bulletin will be issued in the near future stating the repair procedure....

Anyone else had the same issues yet?

Just popped on Topix to find: SSM72424 - Auto High Beam Option Unavailable - 16MY Only.

Not a subscriber though so don't know what it contains!

It says just what I posted above. Only other thing it said was telling the dealers to not attempt any repairs or diagnostics at this stage and await further analysis from the factory together with the fix when it's ready.....

Does manual dipping still work properly, because if it doesn't you might have an unroadworthy car. And we all know how long LR can take to ignore (sorry fix) what they would normally term a "characteristic" of the car because they cannot think of a fix! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes - manual dip and high beam works perfectly, as does the Auto lights on and off. The only bit not working is the Auto high beam /dip beam. It probably would work if only there was a menu item to select the function to "on"! That's what we are waiting for....

I am also missing AHBA menu items. MY16 AB without lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition. Will get this looked at during dealer visit for fuel tank sloshing. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

As I mentioned in earlier post your dealer can do nothing at this stage! I'm waiting for mine to receive notice from the factory that there is a software update for us which is indeed being worked on, but not yet available. The only thing left is patience....
