2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
How often are you topping up your coolant?

Hi

I have a MY2010 59 plate TDV8. I'm getting the dashboard message to top up the coolant approximately every 3 weeks on moderate use of the car. When I top it up the level is below where it should be ie, it's not a faulty error message

I took it in to an Indy who couldn't find a problem

Any ideas? Is this normal for a RRS?

Thanks

Karl

United Kingdom

Hi
Had a 57 plate D3 for over a year and 8k miles only had to top it up once from low to max, ISTR some blocks are more porous than others due to the magnesium content (or something like that!)

My RRS has never used a drop 1 year on and 6k

As Gazzc says have it checked, any antifreeze stains on hoses anywhere ?

Thumbs Up

My 2008MY TDV8 needed a new thermostat housing (the one in the V of the engine as it had cracked). It was losing a little coolant over time.

You probably need a pressure test to try to isolate the location of any leak. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Perhaps a sinking sensor float in the top-up bottle.
A common issue based on other posts on here.
Does it actually require additional fluid or is it just the indicator?

New Zealand 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

do the bottle and sensor (Coolant bottle LR020367 £41.35)

I have the same, though it's not a dicky sensor but rather a (very) slow leak. Will be pressure testing this week to find the source Every home should have one!

It does actually need the additional fluid

It shouldn't use an coolant.

Pressure check needed to find leak. Hopefully its not a cylinder head gasket causing pressure to blow coolant out.

The EGR coolers can leak I believe. Won't be obvious externally if it's weeping in to the exhaust. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
