They all look great in the ad but the reality can be very different so you have to reserve judgement until you see it in the metal.

There are a few posts on another forum that I frequent ranting about travelling all the way to Wigan to look at a cars from Phantom only to find they were not as described.

It is overdue for a service.

Assume that the mileage has had a haircut - I was recently shocked to discover that it is entirely usual for the well-heeled original owners to arrange a visit from a man with a laptop to chop 30k off the mileage before they trade it in.

The wheels look a bit like Overfinch but expect someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute to point out why they are cheap Chinese knock-offs likely to crack and fall apart.

22 inch wheels were never approved by Land Rover for this model and will give you a teeth rattling ride (some on here won't agree!).

The tyres are cheap 'Taiwanese ditch finders' will have no grip in the wet and won't have the correct 106Y load rating for the Sport so your insurance will be invalid unless you change them.

If you inspect the car - do all the usual checks and a few special ones peculiar to Sports - some of which you can find in an attempt at a buyer's guide:

Take your time ,buy a motor thats standard and then modify to your choosing ,it makes more commercial sense. Then again go and buy a volvo much more reliable and people wont despise you as much Razz .I say this as i limped home again today with the dreaded "restricted performance " warning displayed on the dash god i hate liking these cars 2010 tdv6 range rover sport black, ivory leather

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

It says it has every extra, but to me it just looks like a standard colour coded HSE with replica wheels.

Doesn't have heated steering wheel, sunroof, adaptive cruise control etc. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

if you are prepaired to fork out dosh on a regular basis no matter what to keep this car go for it , however if you are in any way tight shall we say then the only way is head for the hills Laughing , then again once you read paddis link above your mind might just be made up, good luck

The RRS can be a great car but one needs to be a bit of an enthusiast with a few quid in the bank to own one unless it is new. You also need to be willing to tolerate things going wrong once in a while. There are good RRSs and some real dogs. They are no different to X5s in that respect although my experience is that the BMWs are more reliable, that's MY experience.

But the RRS has a certain class (if not modded to look silly). The driving dynamics are not as good as the BMW but the ride (on the proper sensible tyres) is first rate.

Its a tough choice, ideally, I would have both but right now I don't have an RRS and I enjoy my X.

Mine is 5 years old, I've had it two and it hasn't had a single thing go wrong with it. Love it.

Buy carefully and stay away from chavvy, modified crap like that one which would have Censored the entire suspension set up.
