height is not normally the issue, its width and length. To ensure I get mine in correctly I have a tennis ball on a string positioned exactly to kiss the windscreen when the car is in the right location in the garage.

I also have some of those foam pipe lagging tubes on one wall to prevent door damage when I get in and out, and a car tyre in front of the car just in case I should make a silly mistake and go too far in. I'd rather hit a tyre than a brick wall. L319 D4 HSE

I love the tennis ball idea RRUK. Think I will do that for my wifes BMW 3 series which will be going to be replaced by our new RRS. Someone asked where I am in the midlands, we're just outside Burton on Trent but Londoners originally. New RRS

i have a set of roof tiles positioned on the floor exactly where i have to stop..when i feel any kind of resistance when driving in i stop.. and perfect..

you can get this laser thing on ebay which projects a beam to your car, so you know where to stop when it hits a certain point.. need to get a tyre to put up on the wall.. thats a good idea..

I found at this week that listening to PDC is also a good idea and that thinking the front end is a bit far out and there must be a bit more room behind isn't - luckily no damage.... Embarassed

although u can't listen to PDC in garage situations, as it goes mad the whole time, as soon as u enter the car's front into the garage bay! so not all ur fault mate..

Good point - not thought of that as car has never been in it yet - starting to beleive that the garages are best used for the motorbikes and mowers!!

You can get those sensors which have a wall-mounted green/red light that you site on the rear garage wall - it turns red when you don't want to get any closer.

Lasers eh...for my wife, I positioned a tennis ball suspended from the ceiling by a string. When it hit the windshield, she would stop. It's not elegant, but it is effective. 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony/Cherry, Privacy, Sunroof, PTI, Premium Sound, SatNav, Cold Climate, Tow kit, CarStyle coded grill and vents, Tasmods, Stormers, JE Exhaust, Autobiography badge
