Get fault codes read.

Have the cylinder compressions been checked ? - sometimes a 'leaky' inlet valve can give a low revs misfire.

If its on all 8 I'd suspect wiring to a sensor that might have got displaced when the plugs were changed.

my car is back at the dealer to have this misfire resolved - everything points to the fuel injector #8 that is the problem - will wait and see

misfire back

Did about 5000kms and misfire is now worst than it was before. It is also on more cylinders, that is #2, #4 and #6 and is there until about 2000rpm.

car is going in next week to selling dealer and will stay with them until its resolved.

work done thus far: new spark plugs, swopped ignition coils and fuel injectors, replaced tappet cover gaskets, compression tests. Service manager consider replacing the engine management computer, which will cost about R25k (GBP1.5K), which they are reluctant to do as it will be for their account

just an update:

car is back from LR who has admitted that they are stunned and do not know / cannot determine the reason for this misfire at idle. So they are apparently now trying to get authorisation to replace the ECU as I told them I wont pay for it and I want the issue resolved as it was one of the conditions i had when I bought the car

Hi
Did you get this figured out in the end? Did a new ECU cure the problem? I'm also stuck with the same issue on my car and its giving me a serious headache!
Thanks
Ben
