WOW - a three bucket system - now thats dedication. I have been using the std 2 bucket system for a few years - never really thought it would make a difference, however when I sold my Treg it had hardly any micro scratches on it (well, apart from when my VW dealer decided to wash it for me - I always tell them not to, however they forgot)

Here are the before pics.






Firstly the car was coated in meguiars detailer car wash soap from a foam gun and blasted clean. It was then refoamed and washed with a lambswool wash mit. Once clean I set about refoaming the car and claying the paint.



The S was quite clean at the front but a lot of crap was stuck to the back for some reason[}] but this was taken off by the clay (Sonus fine detailing clay)

The car was then rewashed and the wheels were coated in meguiars wheel brightener and blasted clean with the pressure washer. The arches and tyres were coated in Meguiars Super Degreaser. The paint was quite bland. It had been coated in supa guard or diamondbrite or something else and you could see it has worn off through time. The water was just lingering instead of beading off the paint as shown below.


The paint was then tackled with meguiars #80 speed glaze to remove some light swirling and add a bit of gloss to the paint. The x shape is the glaze placed onto the pad and dabbed onto the paintwork



Here is the paint after glazing.


The paint was then polished with Blackfire extra gloss polish and sealed with Klasse Extra gloss sealent. It was then waxed with megs mirror glaze #16.









The engine bay was cleaned with meguiars #2 for cleaning the paint, and Autoglym bumper and trim shine for the plastic work.




Windows were cleaned with Autoglym glass polish.

The exhaust was cleaned with 3M stainless steel cleaner/ polish and P21s metal polish soap, as was the skid pan under the exhaust shown below.




The interior was cleaned with a Mini cleaning agent which has air freshner built in.

I think you will agree that the S looks great even on the rainy day it was today meaning that most of the pics/work had to be done in the garage. This will look awesome once the sun gets to it

I just don't have the patience to go through all of that! I love a clean car, but if Maguiers or Zaino cannot get it shiney with just the soap then I've lost interest.
I get the dealer to give my cars a full valet once a year and it costs me £50 to have the full works on the inside and outside in their new car prepping bay. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sigh... it's very shiny, I agree... but he would have driven it away on that wet road and that would've been the "finger in the icing"... looks good, but I can't personally understand why people spend so much time and money on cleaning their car.

I have managed to find a supplier in the US that will ship Zaino to the UK.
Depending on the amount you order worst case scenario getting hit for import tax and VAT etc it still works out a better price than getting it here.

Anyone wants the contact details let me know.

Love the pics of the Mini BTW. Have not tried a couple of the products used there but at the moment I just rate the Zaino so high it is the first time since owning cars that I don't want to try another polish.

Tim, the initial treatment takes a while to do properly but you will be very pleased with the results and protection, as I say I left bird poo on the bonnet for over 24 hrs last week in the full sun and not a mark in the laquer.

BTW the darker the colour the more Zaino with give a deeper shine.

Yes got my first lot there but I don't like paying 50% more than our cousins across the pond (not that I am saying they are ripping people off as there profit will be quite small after shipping etc).

I also liked the challenge of finding a USA Zaino dealer that would ship to the UK .

After getting hit for import tax and VAT etc still saved around 20%
