Lets see if we can unpick the problem a little

Car goes in for a service tracking fine eg with the correct 4 wheel alignment, coming out with a visible difference at the wheel.

Wheels are none standard and the dealer is confirming no adjustment has been made.

The forum confirms that no adjustment to the alignment system would usually be done at a service, however the wheels would be rotated

My suggestion was if the wheels had some fault and were rotated around the car, that would be a change and could account for the noticeable difference eg if the wheel hub was not square eg / against ¦

There could be some other options lie bolts not done up etc...but that wouldnt account for change only after a service.

Equally the garage could be doing something no one knows about - eg adjusting the tracking "for a laugh" or by mistake (which i doubt)

Have you tried you 20" to see if they change anything - that would remove the wheel variable. Mike

Hi again... I haven't got any 20" the car came with 22" all part if the khan body kit etc... and the only time it has had 20" on was when land rover popped them on to check the suspension knock I had ... I had to have my 22" reset after at the time as land rover said they hadn't the software to reset it for 22" ?!!! Any way one of the alloys has had a weld but I totally trust my tyre guy with him saying they are good to go .. Since the service the hand brake is also rubbing on a long drive causing a really loud squeal when driving Sad I know I sound frustrated and it's really because I am ... On the day of the service they also said that they had to investigate the engine fault light ( it wasn't in when I dropped it in ) and it was going to cost £200 just to investigate .. I drove the car away from the dealer and got straight on this site someone suggested that after 6/7 starts it should clear and it did Smile no problem since but the fact they were going to charge for investigative work in a fault that didn't exist just got my back up too :/ any way it doesn't look like there us a reason that anyone can think of do I guess trying to claim the wheel alignment back etc is out of the question Sad

Very occassionally it is possible for suspension bushes to become 'set' if the car's been jacked and no weight is on the wheels for a significant period of time. When lowered the wheels can them appear with abnormal camber usually positive - it may take a few miles/journies for the camber to normalise.

Have you had all the suspension bolts, upper and lower balljoints and bushes checked for torque and that they are centralised?

Can your take it to another dealer to check the roll-bar's and their bushes are set neutral.

Is there any chance the anti-roll bars' link bar(s) have been bent.

Can you jack each corner and spin each wheel to check they spin true?

Hi .. I assumed ( I know. Shouldn't) that land rover would have checked all of that when the service was done said asked them to check all suspension etc dye to an occurring lean when cornering fault code ... The guy at the tyre place checked everything I think when I asked him to search I've source of the squeal ( he does service work as well it s just fir some reason I booked into land rover this time Sad ) .... I guess I shouldn't let it worry me as its all fixed now it's just I begrudged having to pay to rectify a problem that want there before the service Sad

Wheel Alignment

I have a lesson or two in this dept having traveled 300,000 km (sorry dont know what that is in miles) and have gone through a few sets of tyres.
For an alignment to be effective, it needs to be put into a special mode at a dealership/licensed service centre.
They do the Alignment and then take it back out.
If you just take it to a normal tire centre they can do the alignment but then the RR suspension system pushes things around and undoes all your hard earned dollars.
So get them rotated, balanced and then aligned all in one go and enjoy longer tire life.

Also check out Nitrofil. Replace the air in your tires with Nitrogen and get improved mileage. Havin PHUN yet?? I am!!

Hi, surely when the vehicle is jacked up and then put down again the wheels are not going to be in their original angle and will appear to lean in or out until its driven ???
Are you seeing a problem that doesn't exist? MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

Hi everyone ... Thanks for your replies ... The wheels didn't reset themselves after driving etc which is why I had to have them done at the tyre specialist and it definately was a problem that existed and not my imagination but it's done now so problem solved its just that I was curious as to why they did need resetting after land rover had rotated the wheels on service .. As I say thanks but it's all sorted now Smile x
