Grillo - 2 years ago I would have laughed at you if you said Lr's were unreliable after 10 years and 6 faultless vehicles Embarassed

I guess I have just been unlucky this time and I had given up on Lr but the vogue is reminding me why I bought my first Lr and every one since Confused

Flydrive- yes they are the crapinentals and every Lr I have owned had m+s tyres and never had a problem Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Dealer is offering to repair vehicle and look at a goodwill gesture such as a warranty. I could let them do work or pass the matter to my insurer (Privilege) who would have independent inspection and repair done then recover all costs from Dealer Confused

Dealer is willing to look at a deal on vehicle swap after repair but no figures mentioned at this stage so a bit in the dark Rolling Eyes

Interested to know what fellow members would do in my position Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I'd want to find out what sort of vehicle swap they will do now, not once it's been sorted if that is a possibility for you. They can easily work out the numbers. Confused

Personally, I would try and let the dealer sort it out if you can, its in their interest to get it sorted first time for you to save any more embarrassment, it they start to mess you around or cut corners, then your fall back position is to let the insurance company handle it (although you will get penalised slightly come renewal even though its not your fault Rolling Eyes )

I'm sure they could do a little better than 'just' a warranty too Whistle Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I would ask your dealer for a valuation on your vehicle now as if it hadn't been damaged, i don't think they will give you a px valuation unless they know how much you are willing to spend on another motor. if their valuation they give you is lets say below good clean, then you know they are taking the pi55 considering what they have just done to your motor Shocked i wouldn't involve your insurance co as this will bite you later on come renewal, the dealer has all the required faclities to put your motor back as it was if not better. I'm sure they are willing to compensate you in one way or another, see what discount they will give you off another new motor just as a guide if you are in a position to buy a new motor. Thumbs Up

For a pure no-fault situation like this where the other party (the dealer) has admitted fault, the insurance company won't hit you at renewal time because the insurance company won't be out of pocket. Indeed, with the dealer offering full restitution I would expect the insurance company might well tell you to deal with the dealer direct as it would save them any hassle. In effect, you're claiming against the dealer's third party liability insurance.

Having said all of that, I would get the dealer to fix the car. That way if there are any related issues afterwards, they can't hide behind get-out clauses in warranties etc. because they did the work - no hiding. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Offer them your car and £10K to keep the FFRR, and offer to sign a NDC saying that you won't go to the national press Wink

Dealer has now offered a measly £31000 p/x after they damaged my 2 1/2 year old RRS with 22k on the clock that was immaculate - £58000 to buy a new one with same spec or £47000 for a 12 month old Vogue Shocked

Looks very nice MW Cool Thumbs Up
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it needs bigger alloys, also, not too keen on the mud flaps, they look huuuuge! ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Been offered repair and 12 months extended warranty or £31000 p/x against another car Evil or Very Mad

Having just replaced the FL1 with a mini I am reluctant to fork out anymore cash this year Sad

I have funds set aside for my ongoing property development project and I don't want to dip into that Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Thanks to everyone for the replies Bow down

Looks as though I am not going to get a good deal to change so I will have to wait a bit longer for a Full Fat - the revised model next year is looking really tempting Big Cry

Dealer offering to repair, give 2 years extended LR Approved Warranty and no charge for the service last week that brought me to this point Rolling Eyes

Thinking my best option is to keep RRS for a bit longer and try to sell privately - maybe this winter or next and try and get a nearly new Westminster or wait for the new RRS or RR models to filter through Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
