Insurance Advice

Hi Guys

Recently changed insurance companies, in my family there are 5 Cars between 4 of us. We have just taken this multicar policy with Admiral and its been fantastic.

We have a SL,RRS,MX5,CLK and Smart. I am 25 my sister is 21, dad 63 and mum 55. We paid 1,900 for all cars with 250.00 excess on all cars.

To top things off I am insured on the RRS to. Cool

It breaks down like this:

RRS-450.00 (with me on it 25 years old)
SL-290.00
CLK-480.00 (my car)
MX5-510.00 (21 year old sister)
Smart- 175.00

Just thought it was a great deal wasnt sure everyone new about it.

Cheers Smile

Considering yours and your sisters age it is a good price, but also a double edged sword, I know of several cases where people ten years your senior cant get insurance thru' the big names no matter what, I bet the form takes some filling in ! Laughing 08 2.7 RRS "S"

LR Insurance have just sent me 2 renewel quotes through, one for £587 and the other with their new underwritter (Zenith) at £615 with a higher excess Shocked

spoke to them yesterday and they have no record of the second letter coming to me, but the price with the new U/W was the cheaper one Rolling Eyes

it has slightly less cover too, things like mis-fueling is no longer covered, aftermarket audio equipment is capped at £300, so they now can't cover my rosen dvd headrest for the full cost

they have offered a new price at £537, but i am finding cover on tesco Compare from £400 upwards

LV have quoted £498 too Neutral

I've said it before....LR are way out in the clouds on prices, why would I pay them £700 odd fully comp when DL only want £280 ???

Valid point about the no claims on a multi-car policy ! wonder how it works ??? 08 2.7 RRS "S"

Have you ever asked DL for off road use, cover on the contents of a trailer being towed, contents of a roofrack? They will run a mile and quote accordingly - LR Inusred includes these things automatically so if you are looking for offroad cover they are actually a very good buy. Just had a quote from them for my Evoque - £198pa. DL refused to quote, Admiral wanted £1000 (hey I'm 54 and have an unblemished record and 16 years no claims.........) for the same car and wouldn't cover offroad use. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

nick - is this the "new" LRI or the old RSA LRI? I'm still with old RSA set-up which is still available for existing clients, even with a new car. The "new" LRI is an offshoot of Stratstones. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, It sounds like the "new" LRI to me. I'm with "old" LRI (RSA) as well, and when I got my new car the "new" LRI were miles more expensive, hence I stayed with LRI(RSA). My understanding is that as long as you don't break the policy by moving elsewhere for a while you can stay on RSA's LRI policy indefinately. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I wouldnt want offroad cover for the Sport as thats what the 110 is for. And the 110 is causing me some hassle today as it's policy comes up on sunday and the current insurers have declined me as I do over 3k a year in it and use it for my business.
Have had some companies decline me today due to the amount it's had done to it, but managed to get it covered for £305 in the end which is crazy as I'm now toying with the idea of a TdV8 Sport which will only cost me £320 !!! 08 2.7 RRS "S"

When I first went with LRI it was RSA(I think) then the following year Brit Insurance, then it seems they are now using Zenith

By the sounds of them I don't have a choice who they are offering this years renewal with, going to ask though
