Dashcam Wiring

I have searched for a link to a wiring method to hardwire a Nextbase 420-G dashcam into the courtesy light above the rear view mirror to avoid unsightly trailing wires. can someone point me in the right direction or post a method to do this please.

Have a look at this link - it is for hardwiring a radar detector to switched live in the o'head console but it works fine for a dashcam too.

I followed the method described and it worked like a charm. You'll need a small snap-lok connector as the wires are small gauge.

To neaten things up a bit I shortened the (3m!) long power cable from the 12v to 5v converter by dismantling the box and de-soldering the wires at the PCB before shortening cable and then re-soldering. Secured the converter in the console space with double-sided tape and secured the excess micro USB cable with a zip tie.

All nice and tidy with no rattles (well - no new ones Rolling with laughter ) 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
