Have to agree Kam.

I've had a C320 Avantgarde and 320Cd Sport one after the other and there is no comparison to me, especially build quality. In fact, I think there is only really Audi (There, I've said it!) which betters BMW for quality.

We drove X5 3.0d Sport before buying RRS and I have to say despite the over-firm ride (As with my Beemer) the quality seemed top notch and tangibly better than RRS.

As drivers cars, M's always outdrive if not out punch AMG's and this is reflected in the non M/AMG models.

New S is a fantastic vehicle, not great looking tho' but interestingly has lost its unofficial title of 'Best Car in the World', albeit to £1/4m RR (Read BMW!)

No Jay.

But all the new S's have blistered wheel arches, but not the wheels to match.

Maybe that's why I'm not sure about them.

Then again, I bet S65 will have more than enough wheel to fill those arches! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I was about to buy a C32 AMG not long before the RRS, and tracked one down for a bargain price of £26k, but the dealer service was so crap i didn't bother going through with it.. test drove my RRS a few weeks later and the rest is history..

The only AMG cars i would buy (if money was no object) would be either an SL/S 55 AMG, as there is no direct comparison, although the new M6 would be an alternative to the SL, its overpriced and the residuals are looking like one of the worst on the market right now..

Audi interiors and exteriors are build to a high standard, but its been off putting before as they are just so VAG group.. don't seem luxurious enough compared to Bmw/Merc. Im buying the RS4 purely for the engine and the noise/speed/stealthness.. as you said before.. M's are everywhere..

Every asian rude boy, seems to have got his hands on an M3 round brum nowadays.. but as they are between 20-30k now, they stack up as quite a bit of serious kit for the money on finance now.. i wouldn't personally have one outside of warranty though.. too much to go wrong, imagine how much one of the SMG gearboxes would cost to replace?

If VAG bits are good enough for a Bentley or a Lambo, Kambo then they're good enough for me.

From what I've read over the years, C32's are plagued with reliability issues. The new C55 AMG is apparently much better (And better built) so you may have been right to walk away.

What gearbox have you opted for on your M3 next year, or are you not that far down the line yet? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Nah. nowhere near order spec yet.. they are just compiling lists so far.. with £500-1500 (depending on dealer and you're relationship with them) securing you're position. Im no.3 at my local Bm dealership..

Hopefully more details will start to leak out this winter.. with final specs and prices around march and then the games begin with launch around may/june time next year.

Its a bit worrying they haven't got round to launching the new 3 series coupe/convertible yet though, i thought that would be this summer..

Only bits I know so far are what you probably already know.

V8 for the first time.
400bhp minimum (Although sure that'll increase with RS4 having 414bhp!)
Coupe initially
Will introduce saloon at a later date

And that's about it! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

So you're volvo is a skoda as well?

yeah SuperT..
I reckon it will be around 430bhp, 4.0 Litre V8
in coupe first.. 19" alloys with 20" optional,
SMG 7 speed maybe out of the M5?

Most people are saying it will be chopped down version of the M5's V10.
The Rs4 has definitely raised the stake somewhat.. when the M3 comes out, bet they will release an RS4+ but then Bmw will release the CSL version.. it never ends does it!

I.e. MB 63/65 AMG engines.. we will be seeing 10,000 CC engines by 2010 at this rate.. with the promise of better fuel efficiency and lower weight then the previous models as always!

Kam, your last point is actually quite interesting.

VW are developing/producing a 1.3cc engine which will deliver excellent power/lifght weight/mpg (175bhp is banded around).

Maybe things will (Unfortuantely) go the other way.

414bhp 4wd?
430bhp Rwd?

Woo hoo! Kam you better get wipers fitted on your side windows! Laughing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
