First the floods and now the Cyclones

Tried moving south 3 weeks ago back to Sydney and the floods stopped that, we now have the prospect of two cyclones,
one due Sunday/Monday passing close by... the other forming further out and possibly on its way later next week...

Queensland is an interesting place to live and the weather seems pretty wild at times... Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

8:15, great sense of humour they have up here, update followed by the eagles "oh what a night"

9:00 no power until tomorrow apparently, best put the wine in a cold bath Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Tropical Cyclone Yasi

On its way, expected to arrive in the next 24 hours, and possibly a cat 4 , that is Katrina plus territory with a massive storm front of 500 KM's

It looks like at the moment Cairns/Innisfail is in its direct path

http://www.abc.net.au/news/infographics/cyclone-season-2010-2011/

Hopefully it will miss the Whitsundays , however we can expect some massive wind and rain due to the south side of the Cyclone always being the most trouble some. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Prepared to hunker down if it gets to lively, just opened a nice Kiwi Pinot Noir in anticipation of a long night...

As mentioned we are on the edge of the cyclone area, our area the winds are not yet defined as destructive, but damaging, my thoughts are with the poor Censored in and around Innisfail, Cardwell and Cairns

Our local bay which i peruse over a morning cup of tea is expecting a major storm surge (2 to 7 metres no one knows), looking at the surf, which is normally non existent, it would make for a great surf event at this moment in time, wind is pretty lively.

The Sport is up against the garage door, with a mattress separating them, allow some movement but stop any implosion of the door into the garage and subsequently the house... that is the theory anyway.. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Zilch, you are spot on with the RRS against the garage door. I have been through a couple of hurricanes when I lived in Louisiana and the old P38 was pressed into service against the garage door......believe me it works, ours used to get a direct hit with the wind each time. Have you boarded up the house?
