Range Rover has left us...

She has gone Big Cry I haven't been here long but I was wanting a change so we have an X5 on the way. But, I am contemplating ordering a new one early next year as the facelift is oh so tempting. You guys have been great and I hope to be back in the Range Rover fold again soon Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HST Java Black

Those wheels look ridiculously small Im sure it would have driven much better on a set of larger wheels!

Hi Royle...Sorry to see you go!!...X5 a good choice I had a test drive in the new 4.0D M Sport at John Clark (BMW) and really was impressed with the on road handling although never tried it off road but according to 4wheeler its decent enough as long as you are sensible. Good luck with your new steed!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

domy123 - I had 22" Tigers on it, but like them and they weren't going to offer me any more so just took them off, so put them on which were on it when I bought it. The Tigers are now sitting in the garage. Still not decided what to do with them.

codfather - Only reason I bought the Sport was because at the time I couldn't afford the FFRR I wanted (the Sport was £15k cheaper, a lot of money for anyone), so I went second best and bought a Sport. Nothing with engine, I really just prefer the look of the X5. And I was contemplating getting a new Sport but wanted a change. I may be back in a Sport but highly doubt it. The only other Range Rover I'd get is the FFRR.

I will try and get pictures when I get it Thumbs Up

i never went near them when looking to change to be honest, as the sales manager at the local BMW dealer has always treated me like something he trod on, last time i was looking at the X5, i asked if i could at least see a customers car to look at the internal dimensions, he said - "put down the deposit and wait 6 months, then you can look at it!" , so bought an ML instead

great looking car all the same Thumbs Up
enjoy

Be prepared for plenty of stick off of "certain" members on here over buying the X5. Whistle Personally I think it's the better built of the two and so far a thousand times more reliable than my 2.7 was for me at least!!! Very Happy No rattles!! Very Happy No squeaks!! Very Happy No flashhing warning lights!! Cool No Being trailered away 3 times in a fortnight!!! Big Cry And more importantly not having to wait a month every time a warranty job needs done!!! Thud I would consider another Sport IF they ever get their act together with reliability but for now I'm happy being able to rip a V8 Sport up at the traffic light grand prix while still getting over 30 mpg!! Mine has stuck once in the snow cos some tw*t had cleared his drive into the street and it was nearly 18" deep!! Rolling Eyes That I put down to the Summer Bridgestones having absolutely no cross cuttin on the tyres to try and dig into the snow with. Changed them out for now with non run flat tyres which have made no end of difference to the grip. Thumbs Up Was out Deeside last weekend to Dinnet and she was every bit as sure footed as the RRS was. If she has slid the electronics have sorted it out in a flash with no drama whatsoever!! Razz And to cap it all I STILL have HDC which works brilliantly in the snow going down hills!! Thumbs Up

Having put up this I'm quite sure someone will be along with their Top Gear induced drivel about how the X5 would never ever be as good as the RRS Rolling Eyes but personally if you remember who owned LR for a while and then changed their 4x4 set up from the older version to the X-drive then you have to wonder why there was such an improvement in the capabilities of the X5.

Enjoy the X5 mate. I for one can't see past it for the moment!!

i think it all comes down to the dealer, i wouldnt go near the local bmw dealer, whereas the LR guys here could not be any more helpfull, ours are enthusiasts of the brand, rather than salesmen looking for a quick buck. i have no doubt the X5 is a better screwed together car and i am sure nobody can say which is the better car, but my facelifted 3ltr is great, no squeeks, rattles or problems ( and they are rarer on the school run here!!)
cheers

Agreed on the dealer codfather. Up here the LR dealer seems to supply service based on the amount of money spent rather than on a level field.

Can't fault Clark BMW up here. Service have been brilliant! Nothings too much trouble!! And I didn't even buy the car from them either! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.
