sorry mate.. u just seemed in the know thats all..
well basically from what i read too little too late by the way.. i went and bought a plug in tunit box.. but then after having it in for a week.. someone told me, that each and every time you unplug ur ECU plug in the engine bay and plug the device in, they pick up on it.. so if you're engine goes pop, so does you're warranty.. was scared to put it back in after that.. sitting in the box, week used more or less. but when the car gets up to 10k miles, its fast enough anyway.. i make a lot of cars eat my torque on a regular basis anyway.. most Mr joe blogg's don't even know they do a diesel engine for the RRS, they all think.. SPORT.. wow thats a monster.. and when you boot it off they don't bother trying it on.. thats what i think anyway in my little world..
don't need it in my book, but if i was to go through it all again, i think i would go for a permanent ecu upgrade from TC/JE to be honest..

That's interesting Kam. Ours has only done 3k tops. So it loosens up considerably after 10k or so? Might wait a bit longer before committing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Definitely! Mine's done 11k now and it's a LOT better than when it was new/breaking in/early k's. It's still no Cayenne obviously, but as long as that isn't your expectation then I'd agree with Kam... the whole chipping thing is lost on me really too and I come from a long line of quick cars, so it's not like I don't know what I'm missing. The TDV6 just doesn't need any more power in my opinion. A better reason for selling me an upgrade is the potential increase in economy, but in my book that's not worth £500....

my car came in with 4k miles as it was ex demo.. it was quick enough when i test drove it.. as this is a waft mobile afterall..
when i hit 7k miles or there abouts, it was slightly quicker, but its definitely a lot faster now.. as shmoogle said, its no cayenne or an SC, but if we wanted one of those we would have saved up just that little bit more and would have one right? so for what it is, its superb.

X5 3.0d which i used to think was the best suv on the block, obviously was in its day, but the 2.7 lump is so much more refined and quieter then that engine, try getting in one and listen to it.. its very loud, our engines are very quiet and refined to be fair. I guess the new 3.0diesel engine in development and the V8 oil burner will be even better still.. but for the market right now the 2.7 is nice..

Tdv6 and TDv8 have to be quiet and vibe free...................... to appeal to Jaguar owners! Just imagine what the TDv6 would be like if we had the twin turbo Jaguar version.......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I still to this day wonder why WE HAVEN'T got this twin turbo engine!!
something to do with the fit, or are ford management really that stupid?

Would the 2.7TD twin turbo encroached too much on the feet of the 4.4V8 or something?

Apparantly, the TDV6 had to be 'Redesigned' to suit RRS/D3 requirements. They had to move vunerable bits higher up, oil pump etc. to allow wading depth. I presume they also re-mapped the ECU to deliver power lower down for off roading.

Then again, space shouldn't be an issue under the bonnet if it will fit either a 4.2 or 4.4 V8 or a V8D Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I have been considering having a TC remap done, but since the car went away to have the brain transplant the acceleration is a lot better and the fuel consumption is getting better and better. I now have 8300 miles on it. I am still in 2 minds about having it done.

The reason that we don't have the 2nd turbo is just as SuperT says. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The twin-turbos weren't replaced with a single one for performance reasons. It was simply for packaging reasons.
The Jaguar had to have twin turbos because there isn't room in the engine bay to get a cross-over pipe from one side of the engine to the other...simple as that Wink
The marketing qudos of "twin-turbos" was a bonus.
The RRS doesn't have the space restrictions of the Jaguar, so it made sense, I guess, to fit a single, larger turbo.

I hope that helps.
Paul
