RIMSTOCK/RIMFURBISH Do Not Use

Just a heads up for everyone.

I sent my 20" supercharger alloys for refurb at www.rimfurbish.com 2 months ago. I went to them after seeing a link on here which I was very impressed with.
I decided to have my alloys shadow chromed and was told it would take 7 working days.
I went upto Birmingham to collect them about 3 weeks later. On the way up I had a few calls from the manager Matt Ball saying they had a couple of problems with them. There was an imperfection on two of them which meant they decided to respray them and hoped to still put them on the car that day. I was due to take the car down to spain the next day so had a tight schedule.
The two they had resprayed were a much lighter colour. I had no option but to have them put on the car. I was told that they had another set of my wheels in stock which would be shadow chromed and sent to me in Spain. I would then send my wheels back to them.
I good solution I thought, but over the last month I have been fobbed off everytime I contact them and am not actually sure they will fulfill their obligations.
I am thinking about contacting Birmingham trading standards.

Matching the shadow chrome effect so it matches other wheels is why I haven't tried to fix a single kerbed wheel.

Been fobbed off to is not good enough and hope they step up and sort it correctly

An update on the above problem...

Matt, the manager who I dealt with has now left the company and the MD will not support the plan that was suggested originally. He is adamant that, whilst acknowledging the offer to send me the wheels was made, it is too costly. He just said to me on phone that he was happy with 99% of customers being happy and if you were the 1% not, then so be it! The MD claims that as I have not paid for the work yet, he has no commercial obligations with me.

True enough these are just my problems but I wouldn't want any other people on here being affected.

I now have 2 wheels on my car that are a different colour to the other 2 and have surface defects. They were in a better condition before I had the work done!

I have sent this to Birmingham tradings standards and my lawyer in the UK.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am currently experiencing a problem with Rimstock, a company based in
Birmingham and wanted to know what options I have.

I took my alloy wheels from my car to them in April to have them
refurbished. I arranged to collect them at the beginning of May. On
collection, I noticed that two of the wheels were a different colour to the
other two and also that two had surface defects. These issues were
identified by the staff on the day as sub standard and a solution was
offered.

The car was being taken to Spain the following day (I currently live in
Spain and work in the UK) and therefore I was told that an identical set of
wheels, that they had in stock, would be resprayed and sent to me in
Barcelona. I would then send back my wheels to them in return for the ones
sent. The delivery costs would be borne by Rimstock. I have email
confirmations from them of this.

Since then, the manager involved has left the company and the Managing
Director says that he had no knowledge of the issue originally and will now
not support the offer made to me. An offer has been made to swap the wheels
at their registered office, but the car is now permenently based in Spain
so this is not an option for me and this was clearly stated to them at the
time. The issue for the MD is the delivery charges. To clarify though, I
have not paid them for the work yet. I currently have wheels on my car that
have defects, are of differing colour and were in a better condition before
I took them to Rimstock.

What rights do I have in this situation.

The company details are

Rimstock Plc
Church Lane
West Bromwich
West Midlands
B71 1BY

The Managing Director and CEO is Steve Lane, slane@rimstock.com, 0121 524
3015.

Thank you in advance for your help. 2013 RRS SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

If it is factual and correct i think you have a case. may be worth ringing the MD again and pointing him in the direction of this forum and that he is about to lose a lot of potential customers, i for one was thinking of using them but not now, good luck Thumbs Up

MAW - there is no defamation in any of this post or heading so not sure where the issue is - the only thing being offered here is the experience of one unhappy customer and his advice which is not to use them as they do not offer very good service.

I was going to go in past to get them to look at mine when I was heading to Somerset and if they could recommenf a colour/finish was going to leave them and pick them up 3 weeks later coming home!

Glad I got held up and didn't have the time to go in past now reading this! Other half was speaking about getting them to do hers off her tt too!

You'd think they'd they want to sort it quick smart! Let's face it 1 "oh sh*t" moment always outweighs half a dozen "well dones"! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

This is just ridiculous. I actually had their company saved in my favourites for the future use, but since they deal with the problems in such a disgusting way, no thank you - deleting their link right now. Vadim A.
