2 Stroke oil group buy interest

Hello Chaps ,

I dont know if anyone will be interested in this but here goes.

I would like to arrange a non profit group buy of 2 stroke oil for forum members if enough people are interested.
This could be extended to Disco3 , free2 , defender and FFRR if anyone else is interested.

The key to buying oil cheaply is volume but until we all tell me how (dis) interested we are I cant get meaningful prices from oil suppliers.

I will research postage/courier delivery .

I propose 1 litre and 5 litre pack sizes but 25's are possible and will be cheaper.
Initial enquiries suggest it should be 1/2 shop price....

Come on lads , dont all speak at once.

I hope opie oils can help us...

I've looked at their website and 2 stroke oil is around £10 per litre ISTR.

my initial enquiries have seen prices around £3 per litre.

It would be good if opie caould supply a good low cost 2 stroke for us but £10 per litre is a bit rich for me.

fingers crossed.

I'm currently buying off the shelf from Wilkinsons at £1.99 per litre. This is FB rated, which is perfectly satisfactory as long as the car is not fitted with a DPF filter in the exhaust system. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Jo,
I've been using the Wilkinson stuff also.

My local Wilko does not have 1 litre bottles Big Cry
They are 600ml bottles for £1.99 (equivalent to about £3.20 per litre approx?)

Yes , i know FB rated oil is fine , I posted the wilko stuff on here a few months ago.

i've found the FB stuff in bulk for nearer to £1 per litre. Shocked

Mart, really impressive. I am well interested. But how about its effect on the DPF?

Coko,
Yamaha fan (free2 member) uses 2 stroke oil with a dpf with no problems.
In fact he reports it clogs less frequently and thus goes longer between regeneration.

If it makes less smoke then the dpf must be happy.
2 stroke burns more completely than diesel itself.

If mine had a dpf I wouldnt hesitate.

Mart

ps. have you read the freel2 thread at the top of my old thread?? Jaguar XF 3.0D Portfolio

Thanks Mart, read all the posts through.
Is there any specific one that you would recommend?
Can you mix them at all?

I have been buying a 1 litre bottle from B&Q for about £5 rated FASO FD, ever since reading the thread Thumbs Up

Expensive I guess, but best price/faso rating I was able to find last weekend.

plus comes with a very handy measuring section built into the container (just have to fill it 3 times to get the exact dose)

Andrew,
is that the blue stuiff??. the measuring thingy is indeed handy.
all my local B+Q's dont sell it any more (probably 'cos I bought it all... Laughing )
I'd be interested to know of any b+q's in the midlands who still have stock .

BigMart,

Sorry, yes I am buying the same 600ml bottles, not 1 litre as I wrote previously. Therefore I would be happy to join a group purchase for anything cheaper, especially at £1 per litre. According to Yamaha-Fan, there is no benefit in purchasing grades higher than FB if a DPF filter is not fitted. DPF equipped cars require a minimum grade of FC.

For the benefit of the doubters, my indicated average fuel consumption for my TDV8 since 1st January is 28.4 MPG - mostly local driving. Prior to using 2 stroke additive I struggled to achieve an indicated average of 25 MPG. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.
