Hi Folks
I have been lurking on this site for about a week and decided it was the time to say Hi.
My name is Daz and I live in Notts, I am about to treat myself to a RRS TDV8 but just wondered if any of you ever considered the X5 before buying the RRS. If so what things did you look at that made you go in this direction?

I've been into both dealers and there is no mistaking the RRS wins hands down on looks but have not had the chance to drive either just yet.

Anyway I'm sure this will be the first of many posts.

Daz

Oh I forgot to say, hoping to spend about £30K give or take a little, seems about right for an 07 looking in the autotrader.... is it worth waiting a few more weeks to see if the so called credit crunch gets me even more car for my money???

Many have made this comparison - take the test drive and it'll answer all questions - there are some things the X5 had the edge on (as i recall but it was a while back) but overall the RRS has it!

Belgium 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Buckingham Blue

Hi,

I had the same dilema before my purchase. At the time I actually tested most of the SUV on the market. I always was fond of BMW, but in this case the RRS won hands down... The main issues were the cabin space, typical of BMW but much to "confined" to my taste... It makes sense in a sports car, but not in the idea I had of a SUV. The second biggest issue was the suspensions... They are much to firm on the X5 !

Best of luck in your purchase Thumbs Up 2007 TDV8 Buckingham/Sand (daily driver)

Not sure about that, prices normally pick up in January and there are already signs of improvement in 4*4 prices at auction.

If your going into the market, now is the time to buy, dealers will be keen to get stock off their balance sheet before the year end. Perrys For New & Used Range Rover Sports

Thanks for the warm welcome people. Will try and arrange back to back test drives in the week during my rest days.

Is the TDV8 so much better than the TDV6?
Looking on autotrader I see you can get much newer 6's for the money, is the 8 worth the extra money?

Sorry if this seems a barrage of questions.

Daz - the RRS is a great car with any engine - the TDV6 is a great engine, however you really can't compare it with the TDV8 - if you have the choice then definitely go for the TDV8

As Ken says, prices seem to have leveled out at the moment, and I believe that we have already seen the big drop. Now is certainly a good time as there is a choice of stock out there and dealers (if they are switched-on) are looking to reduce their working capital by the end of December, and then go out looking for new stock in January.

Hi Dazsear welcome. I had same dilema I tried X5 and RRSTDV6 and at the end I bought TDV8.. I think that says everything. By the way the difference between TDV6 and TDV8 is huge....and it is worth every EUR. Do not hesitate go for TDV8 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,.....

Good luck and make the right choice................

it seems the Beemer dealers are getting desperate too these days, I have just been called to see if I would consider trading in for a VERY competively priced X6/5. There's no denying I would be tempted if the RRS was NOT such a great vehicle - for me though, my cash will firmly fall back into a LR dealers draw as soon as the 5.0 is released............with that engine and the estimated latest figures it really will be a case of sniff my diff wannabes Whistle Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!
