I had a same dilemma 6 months ago but finally I went for RRS TDV8 and I don´t regret it. It is a superb car-especially if you like the sound of the V8 . The fuel consumption is a bit worse than with X5 but once again the sound is 200% better together with the special charm which RRS has I just hope that it will be as reliable as my last car which was BMW 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,..... |

friend has a Kia Sorrento - feels cheap and engine is not the most refined, however it cost him 1/4 of the RRS price tag so he's well happy |

OK Gonzo, if you READ F G THE POST, I said the X6 was a dogs dinner and that the FX50 is better looking. It is the same kind of 'SUV/Coupe crossover' but far better executed..... Similar dilemma here. Planning to replace my 4.4 HSE and have looked at everything out there. List has narrowed down to the X5 or RRS. No diesels available here, so my choices are the 4.4 HSE or 3.0 X5 which run about the same price comparably equipped. In the X5 I liked the panorama sunroof, bigger cargo area, the black headliner with the sport package, and the seats with the articulating backs and Napa leather are the most comfortable I've ever sat in. Her indoors is leaning to the X5 (we had a 3.0 X5 before the RRS). She likes the BMW nav as it is so similar to her Mini Cooper S, and can be used on the move, whereas the newer RRS nav can't (I believe the hack which works on mine will not work on newer models). RRS has a far superior driving position for me (I've got someplace to rest both my elbows and my knees), and entry/exit from the RRS is so much easier (not to mention the crotch cooler vent). Significantly better mpg in the 3.0 X5, but it is a 3.0. Looked at the S/C and 4.8 X5 which are also similarly priced when the you add from the long and expensive list of BMW packages. Test drove the 4.8 X5 and really, really liked it. Looked at the X6 and disliked it, although it has very thoughtful knee pads!!! Waiting for the 09 models to appear before making a decision. Have had 3 years and 41,000 most enjoyable miles in the RRS and the dealer service experience has been stellar. Love the RRS and will probably go that route, but have to admit I'm tempted by the X5! 2011 BMW X3 35i Carbon Black
