Thanks pauloamore, yeah i had thought about the S/C as with my low mileage,so will bear that in mind, yes i will be emailing Charles hurst..thx again Thumbs Up

Contrary to common misconceptions, the SC will burn £700 a year extra in fuel over 6000 miles as compared to the much slower TDv6. The car will come fully loaded and be fast. It depreciates a but faster, but hey ho.

Good advice from Tim by the way. He's on his second. 2022 P440e AB

OK time to upset a few folks here...................................

Options to look out for:
1) Sunroof - not many have it, but nice option to have.
2) Logic 7 - don't pay any extra to have it, by all accounts it isn't one of the best installations with disappointing performance
3) ECU Chip - don't touch a 2nd hand RRS that has had it done! By all means get it done later but long term life is still unknown
4) DvD - if you want this try to go for the version with screens in the head restrians rather than the drop down single screen in the centre
5) 22" to 24" wheels...................... car was never designed to have huge wheels, steer clear of anything being offered on anything other than LR OEMs up to 20" or Overfinch 21's
6) Kahn - don't pay extra for any Kahn kit, it isn't to everybody's taste and some of it is totally tasteless and will limit your market when you want to sell
6) Maya Gold.............................................. don't even think about it!
7) Modified S/C Engines............. the S/C has reduced cylinder capacity compared to the unblown 4.4V8 because LR were concerned that the liners weren't up to the strain so reduce the capacity with liners, so stear clear of S/C's with engine mods
Cool JE and Overfinch do pukka conversions with warranty, if you like that sort of thing.
9) Look closely at the "privacy" glass if fitted - factory fit has the aerial and heater elements in the glass, film is evident by raised airgap over the aerials and elements. Especially evident on the rear side glasses.

Some good points from Tim, however IMHO:

1) Don't pay any extra for a sunroof. It's a personal thing but I just don't see the point in them - as I said IMO!

4) I believe the single screen dvd has been dropped due to reliability issues and the fact that the single headrest units are far neater.

5) Tim is spot on re wheels. Check if buying a 2nd hand one whether it has Dynamic Pack fitted and/or steering rack damper before fitting anything bigger than 20's. IMO, ride quality deteriorates significantly with non-DP cars (Like mine with 20" Stormers)

2 x point 6's there Tim - tut tut! Wink

9) Factory fit privacy is preferable but there are quality aftermarket jobs out there. We used Pentagon and the quality of work is beyond fault!

Finally, from a personal point of view add in LR OE side steps. I think they finish the look of the Sport perfectly.

Oh and don't listen to Misery, OE STEPS ONLY!!! Laughing Wink Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

What Car? Real cost of ownership over 3 yrs (tax, depreciatiion, fuel, servicing, running costs):

TDV6 Diesel - £33k

Supercharger - Nearly £45k

Bit more than £700 per year extra no? I make it £4000 per year more.

Thats a lot of shares in gold (Kaine), or a GREAT weekend away with the lads in Prague! Alternatively your missus might 'seize' the difference towards a new kitchen. Therefore go for the SUPERCHARGED!

(I wouldnt though).

Sorry, but my point is that he's buying after much of the depreciation is done. Your numbers may add up for buying new, but i'm not advocating that. 2022 P440e AB

Car sales are taking a nose dive, did you see the latest US figures? Its a volatile figure so here is the data for the 5month moving average of year on year vehicles sales:

15.622* today
15.816
16.000
16.207
16.008
15.903
15.958
15.971
15.971
16.235
16.427
16.486*March 2006

The debate is are used residuals going to get hit harder than new prices. Personally I have no idea...but I wouldn't like to hold stock at this point... 2007 Audi Q7 4.2 FSI Grey/Black Int.

I read recently that Chrysler in the USA have stopped production of the Jeep range as there are something like 60,000 unsold 2007 and 2008MY models still looking for buyers Stateside.................................. thank goodness we drive on the other side of the road and they cannot dump them on the UK market too easily! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

our economist just wrote this:

The UK CBI retail sales report registered a massive collapse in the reported
sales index in April. Reported sales fell to -26 in April from 1 in March.
Expected sales also fell sharply in April, down to -15 from -3 in March. Today's
outcome was much weaker than expected. Newedge forecast was for a decline to
-4.

The breakdown of the report shows a wide-spread weakness. Volume of sales (3m
ma) fell to -9 from 1 in March. Expected volume of sales for May fell to -7 from
2 in April. Orders plced to suppliers fell to -28 from -10 in March. The
expected orders fell to -14 from -6 in April. Volume of sales for the time of
the year was down to -38 from 14 and expectations for May were down to -26 from
-15. At the same time, stocks surged to 17 from 10 in March.

All in all, we expect the main index confirmed the weak picture for household
consumption in Q2, after the surprising strong retail sales figures registered
in Q1.
Preliminary GDP figures out last Friday showed that the U.K. economy grew at the
slowest pace since 2005 in the first quarter as the turmoil in credit markets
hurt banks and falling house prices threatened consumer spending. Consumer
confidence indicators have also fallen sharply as UK households see a sharp
contraction in their disposable income. Nothing bodes well for GDP growth in the
remainder of the year. The BoE's King has just made some dovish comments in his
speech in front of the Treasury Committee, signalling below-trend growth in the
medium term. Today's CBI survey confirms that risks for growth are skewed to
the downside and the recent credit constraints, coupled with sinking housing
mkt, will depress economic activity in the remainder of the year. 2007 Audi Q7 4.2 FSI Grey/Black Int.

Gasman,

I know a couple of forum members have mentioned contacting us, but unfortunately I've been away for a few days, and I've not seen an email from you. You may have already made contact with one of the team here but we don't have a Mr Gasman on the system (oh the beauty of forum nicknames)!

In essense we have a few vehicles which could be of interest to you, however two are slightly older than your requirement, but as a knock-on they are slightly cheaper than your budget. We obviously offer full finance facilities, are able to take any part-exchange in, all pre-owned vehicles are quality checked in conjunction with our 'Approved Used' policies and come with a minimum of 12 months Land Rover warranty.

The cars are as follows:

Nov 2005 / 55 - Range Rover Sport Supercharged
Zambezi Silver with Ebony Black Leather
22,000 Miles
£32,400

Oct 2005 / 55 - Range Rover Sport Supercharged
Bonatti Grey with Alpacca Leather
Window tints (not factory privacy), twin rear screens and a Playstation 2
33,000 Miles
£32,700

Apr 2006 / 06 - Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE
Java Black with Ebony Black Leather
31,000 Miles
£36,400

Mar 2007 / 07 - Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE
Java Black with Alpacca Leather
14,000 Miles
£38,750

If any of these are of interest then please let me know so that we can arrange for you to pop in and have a look. We would be delighted to help.

Regards,

James Thumbs Up

Property sales up here seem to be continuing as normal and prices are holding up OK for the time being. My neighbours across the street sold their 2 bedroom bungalow on a corner plot for £50,000 more than the asking price of offers over £200,000 this week. They are delighted as they were loosing hope of selling as it had been on the market since last August.......................... They bought it for £155,000 3 years ago too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
