2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Tail gate lights

I thought I saw something about this before I received my car but a quick search lead to nothing.

When you lift up the whole tailgate there are two lights right on the bottem of it. I am yet to see those lights turn on day or night. Are these lights supposed to come on when I open the tailgate or am I supposed to turn them on somehow?
