Battery dead and nothing working now no lights no centralloc

Hi All,

Sorry i need urgent help, i left for 2 weeks and my new Range Rover Sport 17 plate L494 compeltely drained its battery, My mrs tried to start it twice and it was left with all the lights ON (even though lights are set to off) it was showing the Day time running lights.

I didnt have someone to jump start but i had a trickle charger so i put it to charge, but before doing that i removed the negative terminal and reconnected (the main battery) that resolved the lights issue so lights were then off. But nothing was on any screen including ignition (its completely looks flat)

Now after little while of trickle charging( 3 hours) i can see the brake lights are back up. I am worried having these lights drains the battery as much as the trickle charger charges it.
Can you please guide me for the next steps I can do for this. Thanks a lot in advance.

You’ll need to charge it for a good 12 hours. Leave everything off, both battery terminals connected and have a beer whilst the charger does its thing.

Alternatively, get a jump start and drive it for a couple of hours. Flat batteries can give all sorts of scary results, which in reality are nothing to worry about.

For peace of mind get a Noco battery pack from Amazon. Amazing bits of kit and you can keep it in the car. Probably around £80-£100 depending on sales etc.

Trickle charge overnight is your best bet and that’ll give the Noco time to arrive.

The car will be fine Very Happy

getting a jump kit might help but if battery is right flat it might not be enough to start it
as suggested get a friend to jump it off a running car as it might need a good few minutes to put some charge back in the battery

you might have a sticky brake switch it is accessible to disconnect the switch under the pedal while it on charge

sorry not for a 17 plate as mine is a 2006 sport
if you got a manual you could look up the fuse and maybe pull that out

My battery went flat a few month ago and all sorts of weird things were happening and thought it was something more sinister. Once the car was charged up (overnight) the car was normal thank god. It turned out the battery was on its last legs and me opening doors, boot, bonnet etc when I washed it killed the almost dead anyway battery. My battery was still the original so around 8 year old so your battery could well to be on its way out. They say a battery is only good for 5 years or so. Anyway new battery was fitted and no problem since
