misfuelling diesel tool

Good day all, i am a very frustrated rrs owner, 2015 range rover sport autobiography 3.0 sdv6, my range did not come with the misfuelling tool unfortunately, i purchased one from ebay, i saw videos on youtube how to reset the fuel tank and nothing works for me, first inside my tank there is no yellow tab it is silver and i have been trying for days to get those two tabs on the tool into two holes and pull but unable to, the yellow tool i bought does not go all the way down and rest on the stop, i really don't know how to explain but it doesn't work.
I was told at a service station to take it to a mechanic and let them take it out completely but i am afraid if i do so i will get a code, Can someone help

I sympathise - I have the same problem. Banging Head

I didn't get a tool with mine either and ended up getting an Evil Bay copy (that doesn't work).

I found this video, but I still can't reset it. Maybe you'll have a bit more luck:

I'm fed up with filling on the go-slow . . .

Well, with a bit of perseverance, I managed to release mine today. Thumbs Up

First of all, I gave the yellow flap a few prods with a screwdriver taking care not to be too heavy-handed with it. I doubt very much that this had any effect, but it's what I did anyway.

After that I inserted the 'tool; and just kept wiggling it in an up, down and circular motion to the left and to the right. After twenty seconds or so, it just released and reset. Very Happy

At the garage a few hours later I couldn't help but smile as the £ sign spun to a blur on the pump as I filled it up. Rolling Eyes

BTW - I bought a genuine gadget in the end, but it's identical to the Chinese copy so I just wasted my money. Banging Head

Where do these live in the car from factory? I’ve never seen anything like it in my car.

Mine is (should have been) with the jack under the carpet it the boot. There is a special cut-out slot for it.
