2021 P400e Autobiography Dynamic

Picked this up today and delighted so far!

My fourth LR after a FL2, L322, and an Evoque.

I’ll update this thread with likes/gripes as I find them. Probably makes a bit of a change here to have something a bit modern…

First impressions after a few days ownership.

It's a rather lovely car to drive, it's a relaxing slipper-like drive - nothing like the immediacy and nimbleness of my old Volvo (which seems a weird thing to say about a Volvo, I know). However, for all of the waftiness, cars in the rear view mirror do disappear effortlessly.

I've somehow managed to get all of the connectivity working, so it's all set up with the app, CarPlay, and even sending routes to the car works (despite the app being two years old and a raft of 1 star reviews).

Some things not so good:

* The only way to fold the backs seats down is to move the front seats forward. I'd looked at other cars where the back seats fold down with a button in the boot. But with the RRS, all five doors have to open to get the back seats down.

* There's no automatic "hold" brake on stopping at junctions/traffic lights. I have to either hold the brake or engage the parking brake.

* The somewhat lazy moving off from a standstill (especially pulling out of junctions or entering roundabouts etc, when you need a bit of speed to clear effectively). I know this is probably the stop/start at play, but this is a hybrid - there should be electrical power on tap to get you moving.

yes, should move away quickly as using electric motor when crawling or pulling away.

To be honest, not tried pure EV mode yet (keep forgetting to press the button).

There's been times when the pull-away has been fine, so maybe there's a reason for some of the slow up-takes.

I'll keep an eye on it.

Another bit of annoyance is the car showing "Initialising" when at 100% charge (using a three-pin). The salesman seems to think this is normal, but I'm no so sure at all.

Do a test in EV mode, there is a common problem with the battery heater and if you have that then you will not be able to run in EV mode without the engine starting.

No, it should not be stuck on initialising, but is a bit of a bug.
If you unlock the car and lock the car either the usual way or via the app, it should clear.

But do check out your car in pure EV mode! 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Just tried EV mode on a moderate journey - 25 miles of country A and B roads

Very impressive average of 189 mpg.

Yeah, ran out of juice about a mile from home. It also engaged the engine for a bit after emerging from junctions.

It really doesn't like upward inclines in EV mode either. It'll do them, but slowly.

especially pulling out of junctions or entering roundabouts etc

They take off in second gear. Know the feeling well, no power then you automatically press the accelerator harder then it picks up. Use the paddles Range Rover Sport: Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S

Is this boot alignment normal, or does this need to be corrected? I saw the same dropped boot on my Evoque and had it raised to line up.

I manged to get the charging to complete properly now.

I unlocked and locked the doors using the app mid way through charging and that seemed to have done the trick. It could be that the fault/bug with the car has also sorted itself out. But at least I don't have the worry of the battery deteriorating from the constant "initialising".

Charging has gone back to showing "Initializing" again at the end of the charge cycle. At least it charges up all the way before it does that though. Unlocking/Locking the doors doesn't do anything in this state as the charge unit itself is in an error state.

The artificial engine sound must be the worst engine sound I've ever heard. I'd dearly love to turn it off. 2021 P400e Autobiography
