Eh up karlp606

Cheers for that pal 👍

I really like this forum the folks on here are cracking people 👍

Appreciate the offer, I actually popped down to see a pal of mine who’s going to drop it on his reader on the 28th to give me enough time to drop the oil and do as service reset which I think works of miles not time, so similar to BMW ? Stand to be corrected here .

Will keep this thread updates as always , only thing I managed today was cleaning it then it Censored ed down 🤬

Cheers all

Ehup all,

Firstly thanks to NoExpert for some tips on doing this job, and everyone else who helped.

First time I drained any oil through extraction method, have to say 😁👍

No mess, no 🤬 trying to get bash guards off and drain plug out .

I bought this for £29 of eBay

Modified the ends of the pipe using silicone hose so it grips better

Undid filter which came out easy - think I was lucky from what I’ve read

Took my time and I measured out the old oil at just over 6l

Added 5.5l in and started car for a few seconds, waited and then checked dash display which read Min.

Added in .9l and started car then left 10 mins and still no oil level on the dash ☹️🤔

Checked underneath car …. Just in case 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Went for a quick 15 mins drive and when I got back checked again and still no reading - at this point I got worried

Left it again for a few hours and rechecked, level now reading 3 marks under max when on a slight downward slope😁

It previously was 1 mark under max in same position

Guess the read must be ultra sensitive and it needs time to cool / settle

Thanks for all the help 👍

It most likely read unavailable when it showed min. You need to wait approximately ten minutes after the engine is shut off to get an oil level reading. Or bring up the screen with the hood and drivers door open and double tap the cruise control cancel button to get live data.

So, you put in 5.5l and then 0.9l? That seems a bit much on a 5.9l standard oil change system. Get it on level ground and double check when you get a chance.

Three marks from max is one mark away from needing 1l. This isn’t right for the amount of oil you put in. I’d expect it to be saying overfilled. Sure you didn’t start with 4.5l? 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Eh up No Expert

Just re read my post 🤨

My mistake I should have said I put 5.5l in then 0.4l so 5.9l in total

Definitely as I only got 6l of oil 👍

So got .1l left in bottle

Will re check on level ground just to be sure

Now I know what each mark represents👍

If you are unsure, and as your time is your own, why not use the correct procedure outlined in the workshop manual, a bit long winded but works with no problem.

As for topping up.

Cheers

Not sure about others, but mine says add 1 liter at four ticks down. It will say oil level is okay until it’s four ticks/1 liter low. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

May vary depending on which revision Owner Handbook you have I guess, that extract is the same as in the handbook that came with my MY13 car, no sure what message may appear other than level O.K as have never had to add oil between services.

Cheers
